Job Description

The Child Care Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of our child care center. The Director is responsible for the center's daily operations, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, enrollment, family relationships, program quality, and financial administration. The ideal candidate is a strong and compassionate leader who can build a positive staff culture, communicate effectively with families, maintain high standards of safety and care, and take ownership of the center's continued growth and success. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred, or a combination of education and experience that meets Pennsylvania child care center director requirements. Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education or a licensed child care setting, including demonstrated supervisory, administrative, or leadership experience. Knowledge of Pennsylvania child care licensing requirements and regulations preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to effectively supervise, coach, and hold staff accountable while fostering a positive workplace culture. CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire. Ability to obtain and maintain all required background clearances, health screenings, and other documentation required for employment in a licensed child care setting. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Daily Operations Oversee the day-to-day operations of the child care center and ensure a safe, nurturing, organized, and high-quality environment for children, families, and staff. Provide visible, hands-on leadership throughout the center and serve as a resource to staff and families. Develop, implement, and regularly review center policies, procedures, and best practices. Staff Leadership & Accountability Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, schedule, supervise, and support teachers, aides, and other child care personnel. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and required staff-to-child ratios at all times. Establish clear expectations for staff performance, professionalism, attendance, communication, and child supervision. Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations. Maintain accurate records of employee qualifications, clearances, certifications, and required training. Foster a positive workplace culture centered on teamwork, communication, accountability, respect, and professional growth. Licensing, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable Pennsylvania child care licensing requirements, health and safety regulations, and organizational policies. Monitor staff clearances, required training, certifications, and other compliance requirements. Ensure appropriate supervision and safety procedures are followed consistently throughout the center. Oversee the proper documentation and response to accidents, injuries, incidents, parent concerns, and reportable events. Maintain and regularly review emergency procedures, child release procedures, supervision practices, and other safety protocols. Work collaboratively and professionally with licensing representatives and other regulatory agencies. Curriculum & Program Quality Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, activities, and classroom practices. Regularly observe classrooms and monitor the quality of the learning environment, staff-child interactions, and program delivery. Provide teachers with guidance, resources, coaching, and professional development opportunities. Promote programming that supports children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Continually identify opportunities to strengthen the quality of the child care program. Enrollment & Family Relations Oversee enrollment, registration, waitlists, classroom placement, and family onboarding. Maintain open, respectful, timely, and responsive communication with parents and guardians. Partner with leadership and marketing staff to support enrollment, retention, and awareness of the child care program. Monitor enrollment trends and identify opportunities for program growth and improvement. Financial & Administrative Management Oversee family tuition billing, payments, deposits, and accounts receivable. Prepare and submit subsidy invoicing to the appropriate agencies and maintain accurate supporting documentation. Maintain accurate enrollment, tuition, subsidy, and administrative records. Work with leadership to monitor the child care center's budget, revenue, expenses, and overall financial performance.
Pay:
$52,500.00 - $67,500.00 per year
