Starting at $15,000 annually, with consideration for experience, 10-12 hrs week Position Summary Southcrest Baptist Church is seeking a Worship Leader to lead the congregation in meaningful, Christ-centered worship through music. The Worship Leader will work closely with the Senior Pastor to plan and lead worship services that are biblically grounded and support the message and mission of the church. Starting salary is $15k and includes 2 weeks of paid vacation annually and Christmas Bonus. Primary Responsibilities Lead congregational worship during Sunday morning and Sunday and Wednesday evening services. Lead 3-4 songs during Sunday morning worship, with occasional special music. Lead two songs during the Sunday evening service before Bible study. Select a blend of contemporary worship, praise music and traditional hymns. Coordinate song selections with the pastor so that music complements Scripture, the sermon, and the overall theme of each service. Provide appropriate music for monthly Communion services, New Year's Eve Family Communion, Easter Sunrise Services, and other special services as requested. Lead and coordinate the church's Sunday morning worship team, currently consisting of a bass player, percussionist, and three singers. Schedule brief worship-team practices at times that work well for the team, preferably allowing members to attend Sunday School, Bible studies... Work with the sound/media team to provide song titles, lyrics, arrangements, recordings, and other information needed for projection and sound preparation. Participate in occasional special services, programs, and church events as requested. Integrate yourself into the life of our church, build relationships with members, attend regularly scheduled services and Bible studies Prepare an annual music ministry budget. Maintain a personal commitment to Christ, biblical worship, prayer, and the mission and values of Southcrest Baptist Church. Qualifications A committed Christian with a desire to lead others in authentic, Christ-centered worship. Experience leading worship in a church or small-group setting. Comfortable leading congregational singing with a small worship team. Familiarity with both contemporary worship music and traditional hymns. Accomplished musician, preferably with proficiency in piano and/or guitar. Able to work cooperatively with the pastor, worship team, sound/media team, and other church leaders. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to select music that appropriately complements Scripture, sermons, and the overall worship service. Time Commitment This is a part-time ministry position. Primary responsibilities include preparation and leadership for Sunday morning worship and Sunday and Wednesday evening services, along with brief worship-team practices scheduled on Sunday mornings or at another mutually convenient time. Ministry Philosophy The Worship Leader should view this role as more than simply leading music. The goal is to help the congregation worship God together through Christ-centered, biblically grounded music and praise, while supporting the biblical message and overall direction of Southcrest Baptist Church.
