LTW Anchor — Paid Weekend Position for San Diego County Part-Time | Flexible Weekend Hours | $25-$30 per Hour Job Location and Description Loving the Wise Elderly Ministries ("LTW") is seeking compassionate, dependable, faith-driven individuals to serve as paid, part-time LTW Anchors within local senior-care communities in and around San Diego County. The LTW Anchor provides a consistent relational and spiritual presence at each assigned facility, leading a 45-60 minute Christian worship service either before or after an hour of room-to-room visitation and required documentation. This highly relational role requires building authentic relationships with residents by learning their names, stories, faith journeys, and prayer requests and becoming a familiar, encouraging presence in their lives. Anchors also welcome and engage LTW volunteers, helping them participate meaningfully in worship and building relationships with residents.
The LTW Anchor Model:
Volunteer and Paid Anchors Loving the Wise is blessed to have many LTW Anchors who serve entirely as unpaid volunteers. These volunteer Anchors typically choose one senior-care facility that is convenient to their home, church, school, or community and faithfully develop relationships with the residents there. These volunteer Anchors are an important part of the heart and mission of Loving the Wise. The paid LTW Anchor position is designed for individuals who desire to make a more intentional and substantial weekly commitment to the ministry. Paid LTW Anchors are assigned 2-4 senior-care facilities each weekend and are expected to provide a consistent Loving the Wise presence at each assigned location, building relationships with each resident. While both volunteer and paid LTW Anchors share the same heart for serving seniors, the paid position carries a greater commitment of time, consistency, accountability, and responsibility across multiple facilities. Job Responsibilities 1. Lead a One-Hour Worship Service at Each Assigned Facility Prepare and lead a Christian worship gathering for residents at each assigned senior-care facility.
The service will generally include:
Personally welcoming residents and establishing a warm, engaging atmosphere. Leading or facilitating familiar Christian hymns and worship songs. (BOSE Speaker, with songs/singer leaders on Spotify, and LTW Songbooks are provided.) Reading Scripture together with residents. Delivering a brief, Bible-based devotional message, also provided. Providing residents the opportunity to share praises and prayer requests. Praying with and for residents. Facilitating an environment of Christian fellowship and community. This role requires comfort with appropriate physical warmth when welcomed by the resident — for example, a handshake, a hand placed gently on the shoulder, or a hug — always subject to the resident's expressed consent and applicable facility policy. 2. Develop Personal Relationships with Residents Learn residents' names and make a consistent, intentional effort to remember them across visits. Develop genuine relationships by learning about residents' lives, families, interests, backgrounds, faith journeys, joys, and challenges. Track and follow up on prayer requests shared by residents, revisiting these topics in future conversations. Give particular attention to residents who may be experiencing loneliness, isolation, grief, or discouragement, or who do not receive regular visits from family or friends. 3. Conduct Room-to-Room Resident Visitation Before or after the worship service, personally visit residents throughout the facility, with particular priority given to residents who are unable to leave their rooms due to illness, disability, mobility limitations, recovery, or other circumstances. Knock on residents' doors and extend a personal invitation to attend the worship service where appropriate. Loving the Wise will periodically provide gifts and cards for Anchors to distribute during these door-to-door visits. For residents unable to attend group worship, provide individualized companionship, conversation, prayer, Scripture, and spiritual encouragement in accordance with the resident's stated wishes and comfort level. This responsibility is intended to ensure that residents unable to participate in group activities are not overlooked. 4. Engage and Mentor Ministry Volunteers Welcome Loving the Wise volunteers serving at the facility and actively involve them in the ministry. Assist volunteers in participating in the worship service through singing, greeting residents, reading Scripture, assisting residents, and praying. Personally introduce volunteers to residents and facilitate conversations and relationship-building. During room-to-room visitation, engage volunteers who wish to participate in resident visits and model best practices for listening, encouraging, praying with, and respectfully interacting with elderly residents. Support new volunteers, particularly those without prior experience in a skilled nursing or senior-care environment, in becoming comfortable serving in this setting, reinforcing the Ministry's core philosophy that service to seniors is fundamentally relational rather than merely activity-based. 5. Complete Visit Reporting and Prayer-Request Follow-Up During the final ten minutes of each facility visit, the LTW Anchor is required to complete the Loving the Wise electronic visit report via the designated Google Form.
The report must include:
Number of residents who attended the worship service. Names of volunteers who participated in the worship service or visit. Number of residents personally visited during room-to-room visitation. Prayer requests shared by the residents, recorded in accordance with Loving the Wise privacy guidelines. The LTW Anchor is further responsible for submitting recorded prayer requests through the designated Loving the Wise process, enabling LTW personnel and volunteers to pray for residents and follow up during subsequent visits as appropriate. Timely, accurate reporting is a material part of this role and supports the Ministry's ability to measure reach, monitor volunteer engagement, maintain continuity of care, and ensure resident prayer needs are retained from visit to visit. Schedule This is a part-time position with flexible weekend hours. LTW Anchors will coordinate with Loving the Wise and assigned senior-care facilities to establish regular service times. Because this role is built around the development of ongoing relationships, paid LTW Anchors are expected to serve their assigned facilities on a consistent, recurring basis so that residents come to know and trust them. Each facility visit generally consists of approximately two hours, structured as follows: Approximately 1 hour —
Group Worship Service:
Christian worship, singing, Scripture, devotional encouragement and fellowship. Approximately 50 minutes —
Personal Resident Visitation:
Room-to-room visitation, individual conversation, prayer, Scripture, and relationship building, with priority given to residents unable to attend group worship. Final 10 minutes —
Ministry Reporting:
Completion of the LTW visit report, documentation of resident and volunteer participation, and submission of prayer requests. Compensation and Benefits $25 per hour. $30 per hour for individuals with approved pastoral and/or chaplain certification. An LTW Anchor serving four facilities would generally provide approximately eight hours of direct weekend ministry and reporting per weekend, in addition to any separately authorized preparation, travel, administrative, paid time off or other compensated time established by Loving the Wise in accordance with applicable employment law. Loving the Wise does not provide health benefits or a savings plan. Ability to welcome and guide ministry volunteers of all ages. Comfortable using a smartphone or similar device to complete a brief Google Form after each facility visit.
