Worship Leader Upland Brethren in Christ Church 845 W. Arrow Highway Upland, CA 91786 Position overview: The Worship Leader at Upland Brethren in Christ Church will provide spiritual and musical leadership for the worship ministry of Upland BIC Church. This individual will lead the congregation in Christ-centered worship, oversee and develop the worship team, equip volunteers, and work collaboratively with the pastoral staff to support the overall mission and ministry direction of the church. This role is about more than leading music on Sunday mornings. We are looking for someone who will invest in people, develop leaders, cultivate a healthy worship culture, and help our congregation encounter and respond to God through worship. Upland Brethren in Christ Church is a Christian congregation located in Upland, California, with an average weekly attendance of 150-200 people. We are seeking a part-time Worship Leader who is passionate about Jesus, worship, and helping build a church for the next generation of Jesus-followers. Salary is $18,000 per year for 10 hours of work per week.

Qualifications:

A genuine and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A heart for worship and a desire to lead others into authentic, Christ-centered worship. Spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, teachability, and a servant's heart. Proficiency in leading worship vocally and with guitar and/or keyboard. Knowledge of current Christian worship music, with the ability to incorporate classic hymns and songs of the Christian faith. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with the congregation, worship team, volunteers, and church staff. Ability to recruit, train, mentor, and empower volunteers. Strong organizational and planning skills. A willingness to invest in the next generation and develop emerging worship leaders. Responsibilities included:

Worship Leadership & Spiritual Formation Lead the congregation in Christ-centered, biblically grounded worship during Sunday morning services and special services or seasonal events. Prepare worship sets that thoughtfully support the theme, Scripture, and teaching of each service. Create opportunities for the congregation to actively participate in worship rather than simply experience a performance. Model a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a life of worship both on and off the platform. Encourage the worship team to understand that their role is ministry, not simply music. Help cultivate a worship culture centered on Jesus, Scripture, prayer, humility, and service. Worship Planning & Sunday Services Plan and coordinate weekly worship services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and church staff. Select contemporary Christian worship songs while incorporating classic hymns and songs of the Christian faith when appropriate. Lead weekly rehearsals and ensure the worship team is prepared for Sunday services. Coordinate with the church's technical/media team regarding sound, presentation, livestream, and other service-related needs. Participate in planning for special and seasonal services throughout the year. Worship Team Leadership Recruit, train, mentor, and develop worship team members and volunteers. Identify and encourage individuals with musical, technical, and leadership gifts. Create a healthy team environment built on encouragement, accountability, communication, and mutual respect. Provide constructive feedback and coaching to help team members grow in both their ministry and musical abilities. Develop a pipeline of future worship leaders and ministry volunteers. Volunteer & Leadership Development Recruit, equip, train, and empower volunteers serving in music and technical ministries. Establish clear expectations and responsibilities for worship and tech volunteers. Provide ongoing encouragement, communication, and support to ministry volunteers. Develop student and emerging leaders by creating appropriate opportunities for them to serve and grow. Work toward building a worship ministry that is sustainable and not dependent on one individual. Collaboration with Church Staff & Ministries Participate in the weekly staff meeting and work collaboratively with the pastoral and ministry staff. Maintain regular communication with the Lead Pastor regarding worship planning, ministry needs, challenges, and opportunities. Participate in church-wide events and special services as needed Safety, Policies & Ministry Standards Follow all Upland BIC policies and procedures related to ministry, volunteer service, child and youth safety, and appropriate conduct. Complete required background checks and training when applicable. Maintain appropriate boundaries when working with minors and volunteers. Follow established church procedures for communication, transportation, supervision, and ministry activities. Support a ministry environment where people feel safe, respected, welcomed, and valued. Administrative Duties Maintain an organized worship ministry calendar and schedule. Coordinate rehearsals, services, special events, and volunteer schedules. Communicate schedules and expectations to worship team members in a timely manner. Maintain appropriate records and information related to worship ministry volunteers and activities.
