Youth Pastor Upland Brethren in Christ Church 845 W. Arrow Highway Upland, CA 91786 Position overview: The Youth Pastor at Upland Brethren in Christ Church will provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care for students ages 6th-12th grades. The role focuses on creating Christ-centered environments where students can grow in their relationship with Jesus, develop as leaders, build meaningful community, and live out their faith. The position combines teaching, discipleship, mentoring, leadership development, event planning, community engagement, and outreach. Upland Brethren in Christ Church is a Christian congregation located in Upland, California, with an average weekly attendance of 150-200 people. We are seeking a part-time Youth Pastor who is passionate about Jesus, and helping build a church for the next generation of Jesus-followers. Salary is $27,000 per year for 15 hours of work per week.

A genuine and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A heart for youth and a desire to lead them into an authentic, relationship with Christ. Spiritual maturity, integrity, humility, teachability, and a servant's heart. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with the youth and volunteers. Ability to recruit, train, mentor, and empower volunteers. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a church staff team. Strong organizational and planning skills. Responsibilities include:

Curriculum & Teaching Plan and prepare teaching material for youth ministry activities, including Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Develop a comprehensive annual teaching plan aligned with the church's mission and focused on the spiritual growth and discipleship of students. Teach biblical truth in ways that address the spiritual, emotional, relational, and practical needs of students. Pastoral Leadership Mentor students individually and in small groups, providing spiritual guidance, encouragement, and pastoral support. Build intentional relationships with students and help them grow in their relationship with Christ. Plan and organize youth events throughout the year, including retreats, social events, service opportunities, and discipleship gatherings. Pray with and for members of the youth ministry. Offer appropriate spiritual encouragement and pastoral support to team members when needed. Recognize situations that require additional pastoral involvement and communicate appropriately with church leadership. Maintain appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, and professionalism when working with students and volunteers. Student Leadership Development Recruit, train, equip, and develop student leaders. Provide coaching and feedback to student leaders, helping them grow in their ability to serve, lead, mentor their peers, and live out their faith. Create opportunities for students to take ownership and responsibility within the youth ministry. Special Events & Partnerships Be involved in youth events, including Pacific Conference Winter Camp and combined youth events with other churches. Build relationships and collaborate with other local youth ministries to provide students with opportunities for fellowship, discipleship, and spiritual growth. Facilitate weekly chapels during the church's nine weeks of Summer Day Camp (June-August). Community & School Involvement Support students by attending extracurricular activities such as sporting events, performances, and other important activities. Connect students to the broader church through service projects, volunteer opportunities, and church-wide events. Encourage students to see their schools and communities as opportunities to live out and share their faith. Administrative Duties Maintain an organized worship ministry calendar and schedule. Communicate schedules and expectations to worship team members in a timely manner. Maintain appropriate records and information related to worship ministry volunteers and activities.
