Variable Schedule:
Hours will be determined based on departmental needs and may offer flexibility, must be available to work 20-30 hours per week.
Job Summary:
The Chaplain is a full member of the Health System who supports and comforts patients, family and staff as they deal with the emotional and spiritual trauma of a hospital stay.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in related field strongly preferred. Licensure, Registration and/or
Certification:
None.
Work Experience:
0 - 6 months related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to be motivated by faith and demonstrate emotional stability. Ability to utilize PC and software applications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Visits all patients in assigned areas and charts all visits. Responds to emergency calls when on duty. Fulfills all duties assigned, plus extra duty when asked. Supports families with bereavement issues and counseling. Is on call for the entire hospital one night per week. Attends staff meetings/conferences on assigned units demonstrating interest and Pastoral Care presence in the hospital.
Decision Making:
Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships:
Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
