Full-Time | Approximately 70% Student Ministry / 30% Worship 40 hrs/week $55,000-$70,000 Grades 6-12 Average full-time schedule Based on Experience and Qualifications Primary Student Ministry Focus. A ministry opportunity centered on biblical discipleship, relationships, and building the next generation. Murray Missionary Church exists to glorify God through the making of passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a healthy, stable evangelical congregation centered on the study of God's Word, prayer, and the unity of the Body of Christ. Our Sunday worship is blended, drawing from hymns and modern worship songs, with Scripture and prayer at the center of congregational life. Why This Role, Why Now Our student ministry currently serves 6-12 students on a typical Wednesday evening, while Murray also hosts Norwell Middle School LifeWise Academy for grades 6-8 with more than 100 students involved each week. We see the gap between those two numbers as a significant ministry opportunity. Murray is intentionally investing in the next generation and is seeking a pastor who wants to help students and families connect faith with everyday life. Build a thriving, Scripture-centered ministry for students in grades 6-12. Develop meaningful relationships with students, parents, and families inside and outside the church. Create a strategy to connect LifeWise students and families with the life of Murray Missionary Church. Equip young people in Scripture, apologetics, worldview, and culture so they can live faithfully as servants of Christ. Strengthen continuity between children's ministry, student ministry, and the broader life of the church The Role This is primarily a student ministry position with a meaningful weekly worship responsibility. The Associate Pastor will provide vision and day-to-day leadership for youth ministry while also helping lead congregational worship alongside the Lead Pastor Student Ministry - Primary Provide vision, direction, and day-to-day leadership for grades 6-12. Teach the Wednesday evening youth gathering and lead youth Sunday School. Invest into student discipleship Build genuine relationships with students and their families by being intentional Recruit, train, and shepherd adult volunteers. Plan and lead trips, retreats, outreach, and service opportunities. Develop pathways that connect LifeWise students and families to church life. Worship Ministry - Secondary Lead congregational worship on Sunday mornings on a regular rotation with the Lead Pastor. Help plan services that support the morning message and overall worship flow. Participate in rehearsals and help develop musicians and vocalists. Bring students into worship ministry as musicians, vocalists, and technical volunteers. Support a blended worship approach that serves the full congregation. Shared Pastoral Life Participate in weekly staff meetings with paid staff. Meet monthly with the Lead Pastor for ministry alignment, support, and accountability. Work collaboratively with children's ministry leadership and other church staff. Serve in other pastoral responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor. Who We're Looking For Above all, we are looking for a pastor who loves Jesus, loves Scripture, and genuinely loves students. The right person will combine spiritual maturity with relational warmth, initiative, and the ability to build and equip teams. Required A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a life of holiness visible to students and families. Strong knowledge of Scripture and the ability to teach it clearly and apply it to everyday life. Ability to relate well with teenagers, parents, and adult volunteers. Musical ability on piano and/or guitar sufficient to lead congregational worship, including a working ability to transpose music. Comfort with and support for blended worship. Ability to pass a federal background check before hiring. Preferred Bachelor's degree from a Bible college or university, or equivalent ministry training. Experience in student ministry. Experience leading worship in a congregational setting. Demonstrated ability to recruit, organize, train, and motivate volunteers. A heart for outreach and connecting with students beyond the walls of the church. Compensation & Benefits Murray Missionary Church is committed to attracting the right person for this ministry role. The starting full-time compensation package is $55,000-$70,000, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ministry leadership. It offers a lower cost of living, a traditional downtown, strong local school districts, and convenient access to the restaurants, shopping, and airport of Indiana's second-largest city. Murray draws families from Wells, Huntington, Adams, and Allen counties.
