Job Description
Position Overview The Branch Wesleyan Church exists to produce fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We are a growing church, endeavoring to reach Lafayette Indiana and Tippecanoe County with the love of Jesus. We are looking to hire a Worship Pastor who will play a vital role in our mission by leading and developing a Christ-centered, Spirit-led worship ministry that helps people encounter God, grow in faith, and respond in obedience. This is a part-time position focused on building and leading the worship ministry, recruiting and equipping volunteers, and fostering a culture of discipleship among those serving in worship. Primary Responsibilities 1. Worship Leadership Lead engaging, Christ-centered corporate worship each Sunday morning. Prayerfully plan and select music that aligns with Scripture and supports the teaching and mission of the church. Model authentic worship and shepherd the congregation toward a deeper love for God through music. 2. Team Development & Discipleship Recruit, audition, and equip volunteer musicians, vocalists, and tech team members. Develop and disciple team members spiritually, encouraging them to grow as followers of Jesus and servant-leaders. Provide pastoral care and encouragement to team members, fostering a sense of community and shared mission. 3. Ministry Organization & Administration Build and maintain a rotating band schedule to ensure consistent coverage and healthy volunteer rhythms. Plan and lead weekly worship team rehearsals to prepare for Sunday services. Coordinate with the lead pastor and ministry staff to ensure worship aligns with sermon series and church events. Work closely with the tech team to ensure sound, slides, and livestream run smoothly. Meet monthly with the pastor in the Ministry Team Leaders meeting. 4. Creative Leadership & Growth Introduce new songs and creative worship elements as appropriate, while maintaining a balance of familiar congregational worship songs. Help develop a culture of worship at The Branch that extends beyond Sunday mornings and encourages a lifestyle of worship. Qualifications A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with Wesleyan theology and the mission of The Branch Wesleyan Church. Musical proficiency (vocals and instrument) and the ability to lead a worship team effectively. A shepherd's heart for people and a desire to disciple and mentor others in their faith and gifts. Organizational and communication skills to recruit, schedule, and lead volunteers effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with the lead pastor and ministry team. Previous experience leading worship in a church setting is preferred but not required. Time Commitment & Compensation Approximately 8-10 hours per week , including Sunday morning worship service, weekly rehearsal, planning, and team development.
