POSITION SUMMARY

Facilitate the planning and implementation of weekly chapel services and special services within the life of the campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Invite members of LPTS student body, faculty, and staff to lead and participate in worship as preachers, liturgists, and musicians

Attend weekly planning meetings Mons 11:30am-1:00pm ET alongside service leaders to:

Brainstorm and develop service themes, elements of worship, and order of worship

Identify and invite service participants (readers, musicians, setup and teardown team, etc.)

Write, source, or otherwise prepare liturgy, rituals, and music for weekly worship and special services

Be present in Caldwell Chapel Thurs 11:30am-1:30pm to:

Complete sanctuary and service setup and teardown before and after weekly service (12-1pm)

Moderate hybrid Praises and Prayer Requests fellowship time (12:30-1:30pm)

Prep and run AV (audio/visual) tech during services, including running slides, operating audio soundbox, adjusting microphone volume/placement, and running balcony camera and livestream

Participate in leading worship as needed, including reading liturgy and leading activities

Organize and save digital service resources within the LPTS Chapel Worship Google suite

Organize and store physical services resources within Caldwell Chapel upper and lower storage rooms

Serve as a student liaison to the 2026-27 Liturgy in Life Committee and Seminary Council, including attending bi-monthly governance meetings Weds 1:30-3:00pm ET on the following dates: Fall 2026:

MINIMUM

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Curiosity and enthusiasm regarding elements and expression of worship, engagement of the sacred, and spiritual reflection

Working familiarity with various elements of worship in the context of a faith community

Ability to draw connections between ritual elements of worship and theological expressions of faith

Ability and comfort assisting service leaders in engaging expressions of worship across a wide variety of faith traditions, including ecumenical and interfaith traditions

Ability to address points of diversity or conflict within theology, faith practice, or logistic planning with directness, clarity, and empathy

Ability to follow written instructions related to AV setup

Strong written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Experience preparing and presenting elements of liturgical worship (prayers, readings, sermons, hymns, sacraments, etc.)

Experience setting up and running AV for presentations or events

Experience moderating virtual or hybrid gatherings and presenting within digital mediums

Working familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Available to be present in-person in Caldwell Chapel Thurs 11:30am-1:30pm during the 2026-27 academic year (off Research & Study weeks, Thanksgiving, J-Term, Holy Week, and Finals weeks)

Available to be present in-person or via Zoom for weekly planning meetings (Mons 11:30am-1:00pm ET) and bi-monthly governance Liturgy in Life Committee and Seminary Council meetings (Weds 1:30-3:00pm, dates listed above) during the 2026-27 academic year

Ability to sit in front of computer camera and engage digital tools via keyboard, mouse, and/or touchpad

Ability to lift, carry, and handle physical worship resources weighing up to 20 pounds

Preferred:

ability to climb at least one set of stairs at a time
