Position Summary The Youth Director leads Christ Church's ministry with middle and high school students, helping them grow in faith through discipleship, relationships, worship, service, and leadership development. The Youth Director creates a welcoming environment where students are known, valued, and encouraged to follow Jesus. The Youth Director partners with families, volunteers, staff, and the congregation to build a vibrant ministry that nurtures students and supports their faith journey into young adulthood. Primary Responsibilities Discipleship & Student Engagement Lead a Christ-centered ministry that encourages spiritual growth through worship, Scripture, prayer, service, and community. Build meaningful relationships with students and provide spiritual encouragement and support. Coordinate Confirmation and other key faith milestones. Create opportunities for students to explore faith, ask questions, and deepen their relationship with Christ. Youth Programs & Leadership Development Plan and lead weekly gatherings, special events, retreats, mission trips, and service opportunities. Develop student leaders and encourage active participation in the life and mission of the church. Foster a welcoming and inclusive culture where every student feels they belong. Families & Volunteers Partner with parents and guardians in the spiritual development of their children. Recruit, train, and support a team of adult volunteers. Maintain regular communication with students, families, and volunteers. Church Collaboration & Administration Collaborate with children's ministry, worship, music, and other church leaders to strengthen discipleship pathways and transitions between age groups. Ensure compliance with Safe Sanctuary policies and church procedures. Manage the youth ministry budget, calendar, communications, and ministry records. Evaluate ministry effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth. Qualifications A growing Christian faith and commitment to Jesus Christ. Passion for youth ministry and discipleship. Ability to build authentic relationships with students, families, and volunteers. Experience in student ministry, education, or related leadership preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to recruit, equip, and lead volunteers. Commitment to the mission and values of The United Methodist Church. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. Measures of Success Students experience belonging and meaningful spiritual growth. Youth actively participate in worship, service, and leadership opportunities. Families feel supported and engaged in their students' faith development. A strong volunteer team is equipped and growing. Youth ministry is integrated into the overall mission and life of Christ Church. Experience Proven experience working with children or youth in a religious or community setting; prior youth ministry or pastoral work highly preferred. Strong background in religious teaching, religious organization childcare experience, or youth programs teaching experience. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate young people and manage volunteers effectively. Knowledge of pastoral theology, Christian counseling practices, and social work principles related to youth development. Experience in event planning, fundraising activities, and community engagement within nonprofit faith-based organizations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect authentically with diverse age groups and backgrounds. Familiarity with working as a clergyperson or in religious leadership roles that involve mentoring or guiding youth. Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion while maintaining confidentiality; experience in bereavement support or hospice care is a plus. A passion for mission work and a commitment to fostering spiritual growth through engaging educational experiences. $55,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
