Position functions as a recognized resource as the chaplain for the Central Michigan Correctional Facility. This position is responsible for providing and coordinating all religious activities for the level 1, Central Michigan Correctional Facility. This position works with staff and outside volunteers to ensure that the religious rights of the prisoners are being met and provides structure that allows for spiritual growth of the prisoner population in line with safety and security concerns. This position is located within the secure perimeter of the facility. Required Education and Experience Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in religion, theology, divinity, or in an area of human services such as guidance and counseling, social work, criminal justice, etc. Experience Institution Chaplain 9 No specific type or amount is required. Institution Chaplain 10 One year of professional experience as a religious leader either in a community or institutional setting equivalent to an Institution Chaplain 9. Institution Chaplain P11 Two years of professional experience as a religious leader either in a community or institutional setting equivalent to an Institution Chaplain, including one year equivalent to an Institution Chaplain 10. Institution Chaplain 12 Three years of professional experience as a religious leader either in a community or institutional setting equivalent to an Institution Chaplain, including one year equivalent to an Institution Chaplain P11. Alternate Education and Experience Possession of an associate's degree in religious studies or an area of human services and two years (4,160 hours) of experience performing religious services such as marriages, burials, baptisms, and any other services unique to the particular faith may be substituted for the education requirement.
