Job Description

The position of youth pastor will be responsible for all planning and leading of activities and teaching of grades 6-12. The youth pastor will work closely with the senior pastor and other staff to provide sound, Biblical leadership to the youth ministry. He will be responsible for maintaining a calendar of youth related activities throughout the year to promote involvement and spiritual growth among those within this scope of ministry. As a staff pastor, the individual will perform other ministry related duties as assigned.
Duties:
  • Provide pastoral oversight to the youth ministry of First Baptist Church
  • Provide hands on leadership to the Sunday School hour by recruiting, equipping, and supporting the youth Sunday School teachers
  • Oversee all weekly youth services on Sunday and Wednesday
  • It is required to be an active and regular presence in the schools and school events related to the students within the youth ministry of First Baptist Church.
  • Plan, promote, and provide hands on leadership to seasonal youth events for spiritual growth of the students. This includes summer camps, DNow, and any other conferences and/or events during the year.
  • Effectively use social media to keep students and parents engaged in the ministry.
  • Provide active participation in weekly staff meetings and keep the staff informed on ministry goals, successes, and needs.
  • Provide support and equipping to all parents of youth.
  • Keep parents and the church aware of youth related activities in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Children's Pastor to foster an effective transition between respective ministries.
  • Work well with the youth committee to include them in planning and execution of events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor and/or Office Administrator
