Position Summary The Discipleship Pastor is responsible for the strategy, direction, and leadership of the Discipleship ministry at New Church including oversight for all aspects of adult discipleship and prayer. This role helps guide the church in the Seek portion of the New Church vision, inviting people to pursue Jesus through integrating the spiritual disciplines into their walk with Christ, including sharing their testimonies. The Discipleship Pastor also serves as a preaching pastor in the Lead Pastor's absence and provides pastoral support for weddings and funerals when needed. The individual assuming this role will build systems and relationships while multiplying leaders, not simply disciple individuals. Key Responsibilities Adult Discipleship Lead Men's and Women's Ministry, shaping vision, content, and community. Oversee all discipleship groups, including recruiting, developing, and training group leaders. Oversee Rooted (Men's, Women's, and Co-ed), ensuring strong leadership development and consistent implementation. Lead and equip the baptism team. Prayer Leadership Direct the prayer ministry of New Church, guiding the prayer team and cultivating a culture of prayer within the congregation. Onboarding & Formation Pathways Lead and further develop congregant onboarding, including All Things New.

Strengthen pathways that help people take next steps in discipleship, community, spiritual growth, and service. Teaching & Pastoral Leadership Preach 6-10 times per year. Make Sunday service announcements, when requested. Perform weddings and funerals, when the Care Pastor is unavailable. Serve as backup pastor for pastoral duties as needed. Vision Alignment Understand and actively lead the church in the Seek portion of the New Church vision, ensuring discipleship and prayer ministries reflect and advance this core value. Qualifications Demonstrates a growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. Deep spiritual maturity and high organizational competence. Passionate about helping people grow spiritually. Practices daily, disciplined prayer and Bible reading. Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relational skills. Experience leading a discipleship ministry and shaping a discipleship culture. Experience recruiting, training, and developing volunteer leaders. Ability to cast vision while also providing effective leadership and accountability. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and church leadership. Strong relational intelligence. Commitment to the mission, values, and theological beliefs of the church. This is a full-time position reporting to the Executive Director.
