September 2026 The Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church believes that young people are not just our future Church — they are the church right now. Young people are called to live out God's mission in the world today and in the days to come. Position Purpose To assist in realizing the vision of Connectional Ministries by providing leadership and support for the implementation of policies, practices, and processes for the Annual Conference and churches as they relate to children, youth, college students, and young adults (young people). This includes ministry leaders/pastors and churches as they relate to young people in the Indiana Conference. This role relates directly to a Young Leaders Team, Camping Ministries, and Discipleship Engagement. This role works to continually identify and implement best practices and innovation for empowering, equipping, and resourcing ministries with young people, churches, and supporting roles as they relate to young people. The position requires the ability to lead teams within a collaborative ministry setting with a high level of organizational and communication skills. This role works with the Director of Connectional Ministries and other ministries of the Indiana Conference to advocate for and integrate young people into all events, initiatives, and departments. Essential Functions 1. Work collaboratively with the Director of Connectional Ministries to fulfill the mission of the Indiana Conference and vision of Connectional Ministries to engage and empower young people and ministry leaders/churches as they relate to young people. 2. Work across the Indiana Conference in relationship with districts, teams, and churches to empower and encourage leadership and discipleship development for all children, youth, college students, and young adults. 3. Develop and resource a diverse team of young leaders. 4. Provide leadership and administrative support for the development and implementation of, but not limited to, the following areas: Cohorts/Group Development (Ministry Leaders, Intergenerational Ministry, Young Leaders) Camping Connections Coaching for young people and ministry leaders Involvement of young people in Annual Conference Event/Engagement Development Partnership with the Board of Laity Additional Responsibilities 1. Assist in leadership related to advocacy work for young people. 2. Attend all Connectional Ministry Staff events and meetings. 3. Attend all Conference Staff events and meetings. 4. Maintain all communications related to the team of young leaders, college connections, and young people. (including but not limited to newsletters, emails, social media) 5. Attend meetings of various boards and agencies as deemed by Director of Connectional Ministries. Workplace Requirements 1. Availability to travel within the conference, jurisdiction, and to connectional meetings. 2. Internet enabled mobile phone. 3. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. 4. In office or remote workplace for confidential meetings and organization needs. Qualifications for this position 1. A vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to help fulfill the church's mission and to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. 2. Knowledgeable and supportive of the mission and ministry of the United Methodist Church. 3. Bachelor's degree or the equivalent of a four-year degree from an accredited learning institution. High consideration will be given to those who possess a master's degree in relevant leadership studies. 4. Satisfactory comprehensive background check. 5. Understanding of and commitment to diversity (culture, race, gender, theology, age, etc.) 6. Significant experience in leadership development, ministry with young people, intergenerational ministry, and discipleship that demonstrates growth. 7. Proven ability to interact with and form fruitful partnerships with all levels of management and congregational leaders. 8. Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence. 9. Strong communication skills. Salary Range $64,000-$69,000, commensurate with experience and demonstrated proficiency; 35 hours per week.
