Position Summary:

Messiah Lutheran Church, Joliet, Illinois is seeking a creative, mission-minded Communications & Community Engagement Director to lead the church's communications, marketing, and outreach efforts. This part-time position works closely with the Pastor, Lay Minister Board, church staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to share the Gospel, strengthen the congregation, and build meaningful relationships within the community

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and implement communication, marketing, and outreach strategies that support the mission of Messiah Lutheran Church. Manage the church's website, social media, email communications, and promotional materials. Create engaging content that tells the story of Messiah Lutheran Church and invites others into a relationship with Christ. Bring fresh ideas for marketing, advertising, community outreach, and evangelism. Build relationships with community leaders, organizations, and groups that use the church building. Attend church staff, leadership, and community meetings as needed. Assist with opening the church building for outside groups and community events. Work collaboratively with the Pastor, Lay Minister Board, church staff, and ministry leaders to promote ministries and events Stay informed on communication trends, social media, and cultural changes to help Messiah effectively connect with today's community.

Qualifications:

Demonstrate a growing Christian faith and a passion for sharing the Gospel. Have at least two years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Be proficient in social media, digital communications, and basic marketing strategies. Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Be creative, organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively. Have experience with website management, graphic design.

Reporting Relationships :

This part-time position reports to the Lay Minister Board and works closely with the Pastor, church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and community partners.

Mission:

The Communications & Community Engagement Director serves as an ambassador for Messiah Lutheran Church by communicating the hope of Jesus Christ, strengthening relationships within the congregation, and building connections throughout the community. The successful candidate will view this position not simply as a job, but as a ministry dedicated to advancing the Gospel and strengthening Messiah Lutheran Church's presence in the community.

Pay:

From $25.24 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 25.0 per week
