Making Jesus known where He is not. The Front Church is seeking a Jesus-centered, mission-minded Worship Leader to help lead our church into its next season of ministry. We are a growing church serving the southwest Salt Lake Valley and the spiritually unique context of Utah. Many people here come from a strong religious background, while others are reconsidering faith or exploring Christianity in a new way. We want The Front Church to be a place where people can ask honest questions, develop authentic relationships, and discover the grace and hope of Jesus. Our Sunday gatherings are an important part of that mission. We want our worship to be centered on Jesus, sincere, congregational, and welcoming to newcomers. We are looking for someone who loves Jesus, loves people, and understands worship leadership not primarily as performing music, but as helping a community turn its attention toward Jesus together. What You'll Do The Worship Leader will provide leadership and direction for the music ministry of The Front Church.
Responsibilities include:
Lead worship regularly during Sunday gatherings. Oversee and develop the music ministry of The Front Church with consideration for the unique spiritual and cultural context of Utah. Help create worship environments that are centered on Jesus, accessible to newcomers, and conducive to genuine congregational participation. Recruit, develop, encourage, and care for worship team members, helping people grow as both musicians and followers of Jesus. Lead engaging and efficient rehearsals that help musicians grow in skill, preparation, confidence, and teamwork. Plan worship sets that are congregational, accessible, theologically thoughtful, and connected to the overall direction of each Sunday gathering. Work with the Lead Pastor to develop and maintain a core song bank of approximately 30-50 culturally and contextually appropriate worship songs. Utilize Planning Center to organize set lists, chord charts, rehearsals, and team scheduling. Work with ProPresenter and develop a working understanding of the audio, visual, and technical systems used during our Sunday gatherings. Communicate clearly and consistently with musicians and other Sunday ministry leaders. Meet regularly with the Lead Pastor to discuss worship culture, upcoming gatherings, team development, and how the worship ministry supports the overall mission and direction of The Front Church. Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Has a growing relationship with Jesus and wants ministry to flow out of their own life of following Him. Values Scripture and prayer as essential parts of life and ministry. Approaches worship leadership with humility, sincerity, and a pastoral heart. Is comfortable leading vocally and instrumentally. Can lead musicians with clarity, encouragement, preparation, and grace. Values congregational participation over performance. Wants to build genuine relationships with the people they serve alongside rather than simply assembling musicians for a Sunday service. Thinks intentionally about people who may be unfamiliar with church, Christian worship, or language Christians sometimes take for granted. Enjoys developing other musicians and leaders rather than needing to be at the center of everything. Wants to invest in the broader life and mission of a local church. Feels drawn not simply to a worship position, but to ministry in the unique mission field of Utah. Experience with Planning Center, ProPresenter, worship-team leadership, and church audio/visual systems is helpful, though we are willing to train the right person in our specific systems. Why Utah? Compensation & Support Raising This is a missionary support-raising ministry position . The Front Church is able to provide: A small ministry stipend Coaching and assistance in developing a personal financial support team We understand that raising financial support may be unfamiliar or intimidating. Our Lead Pastor is himself a support-raising pastor and is happy to personally come alongside the Worship Leader throughout that process. The right candidate will not simply be told to "go raise support." We can help them learn how to communicate their calling, identify potential ministry partners, invite others into the mission, and begin developing a sustainable support team.
