Job Description
Sandy Ridge Baptist Church's mission is to help people find God and grow their faith, discover their purpose and make a difference with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The members of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, Virginia, a Southern Baptist Church, are in search of an ordained, licensed full-time Pastor to faithfully shepherd our congregation; a man of God who loves and believes the inerrant Word of God; leads with compassion and lives according to biblical teachings. Pastoral candidates must be equipped to be a teacher, leader, and counselor. Candidates must demonstrate good leadership qualities and good and personable communication skills with all age levels.
Major Duties:
- Provide spiritual leadership to the members of the church
- Prepare weekly services- including sermons and weekly bible studies
- Preach and oversee worship services
- Interpret biblical scripture
- Cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention
- Provide counseling (including crisis situations) according to the Word of God
- Work with Deacons, church officers and committees to develop annual church goals and develop a strategy to fulfill the church's mission and vision.
- Preside as primary officiant for church functions: communion, baptisms, funerals, weddings, etc.
- Represent the church in civic matters
- Visit sick, shut-in members at home, hospital or nursing care facilities
- Provide a caring ministry for those in the church and community
- Lead the church in an effective outreach program to reach the unchurched, inactive or new residents in the community through church activities, etc.
- Minister to prospective members through personal contact
- Have a heart and mind for missions
- Consult with Deacons to fill the pulpit in absences
- Must pass a comprehensive background check
Education:
Seminary or Bible College graduateExperience:
Experience with a multi-aged congregation-Experience in outreach to grow a congregation Compensation A competitive compensation package will be based on the candidate's education, experience, and ministry background.
