The Part Time Pastor of Worship Ministry will plan and provide oversight for the music and corporate worship. This leader is called to help create a transformed/ing worship culture by means of ministries related to worship and the arts. The Pastor of Worship Ministry focuses on the worshipping life of the community. These responsibilities include music, but also involve vision and implementation of a deepening creative/liturgical/formational culture of worship by working with staff and lay leaders.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan Sunday liturgy including all songs and special music in coordination with worship themes. Lead weekly Sunday run-through meeting with leaders. 2. Set up and lead weekly rehearsals with worship team, band, choir or special groups. 3. Arrange for the preparation and distribution of music and worship materials. 4. Schedule and communicate the rotation of musicians needed for each service including special groups (i.e., bells, worship team, worship band, and choir). 5. Communicate with Custodian any set up changes and/or facility needs. 6. Help recruit and coordinate lay leaders to serve all areas related to worship ministry including audio, video and liturgical arts ministry people as well as ushers, greeters, communion servers, etc. 7. Oversee updating, purchasing and maintaining equipment, and smooth functioning of worship-related technology, i.e., sound system, projection/lighting system. 8. Facilitate the gifts of the arts in our congregation and introduce elements of creative arts into our service. 9. Participate in and help plan additional/seasonal services and/or events as needed, i.e., Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Carols of Christmas, Christmas Eve, Weddings, Funerals and Concerts. 10. Administer and communicate needs of services using Planning Center. Enter liturgy and people needed for each service. Have a good understanding of projection and sound technology. 11. Prepare the annual budget for worship and music as a cooperative effort of the Worship & Music Committee, Finance Committee and Council. 12. Work in partnership with the Lead Pastor in developing a unified vision for worship and meet with Council representative for worship. 13. Oversee and coordinate multimedia team. 14. Recruit and manage multimedia team.
Personal and Professional Development:
  • Pursue a prayerful, Christ-centered life through regular periods for spiritual, emotional, and intellectual renewal. Obtain semi-regular spiritual direction for ongoing discernment and personal growth.
  • Attend seminars, workshops, and/or conferences that contribute to healthy, faithful ministry.
  • Feed the imagination for creative ministry by involvement in local concerns, academic reflection, faith and arts communities, and the larger community.
  • Deepen identity for faithful and authentic ministry by regular theological reflection with the pastoral staff, Covenant kindred spirits, and through laity interactions.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in worship ministry, music, theology or related field preferred
  • 4 - 7 years' experience in a church setting preferred
  • Strong musical ability (vocals and at least one instrument, typically guitar or piano) Skills & Competencies

Pay:
$30.00 - $36.00 per hour
