A Residential Assistant or Advisor works in a residential mental health, long-term care, or substance abuse treatment facility and provides support for patients, including resolving conflicts, helping them adjust to their environment, and alleviating concerns. Performs inspections and assists with move-ins and facility programming.

Direct Services / Human Services About the Role We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Lead Residential Counselor to support individuals in a residential setting as they work toward greater independence and community living. In this role, you will provide person-centered support, help residents achieve their goals, and promote a safe, respectful, and empowering home environment. The Lead Residential Counselor works closely with clinical and residential teams to implement individualized support plans, provide daily guidance, and help residents build skills for independent living. Key Responsibilities Provide direct support to residents using recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches. Assist individuals with daily living skills, meal preparation, community integration, and achieving personal goals. Support implementation of individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical team. Administer and document medications according to Medication Administration Program (MAP) guidelines (training provided). Provide crisis support and connect with additional resources when needed. Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming residential environment. Support resident meetings, activities, and opportunities for increased independence. Serve as an advocate and positive resource for residents, families, and community members. Complete required documentation, incident reports, and quality improvement activities. Assist with program operations, safety responsibilities, and assigned administrative duties. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience working in residential services, behavioral health, mental health, or human services preferred. Valid US drivers license for 6+ months and your own vehicle Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with individuals, families, and team members. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively in challenging situations. Commitment to supporting individuals' rights, dignity, and ability to live meaningful lives in their communities. Additional Requirements Must meet driving requirements, including maintaining a safe driving record. CPR and First Aid certification required within two weeks of hire. MAP certification required within 150 days of hire. Ability to perform physical duties, including standing, walking, bending, assisting with daily living activities, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
