Through a structured, trauma-informed residential and educational environment, we help young people build stability, resilience, and the skills they need to move forward with confidence. The Role As a Relief / Per Diem Residential Counselor, you are a steady, reliable presence in a young persons life. Youll mentor, guide, and support youth through daily routines, challenges, and milestoneshelping them build trust, confidence, and coping skills that last far beyond their time in our care. Youll work alongside clinicians and educators to support individualized treatment plans in meaningful, practical ways. What Youll Do Build supportive, consistent relationships with youth Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment Partner with clinical and education teams to support treatment goals Coach youth in coping skills, emotional regulation, and daily living skills Respond calmly and effectively during moments of crisis Support daily programming, activities, transportation, and routines as needed Maintain appropriate documentation and communication with the treatment team Participate in required training and professional development Who You Are Patient, grounded, and emotionally intelligent Reliable and consistentsomeone others can count on Comfortable in fast-moving, high-impact environments Flexible and willing to support the program when needed Motivated by purpose-driven work that truly matters Relief / Per Diem Expectations This is a flexible, as-needed position. There are NO mandated or forced shifts. Relief staff are expected to work a minimum of 24 hours per month during their first six months. After the initial six-month period, relief staff are expected to work at least 40 hours per quarter to remain active in the relief pool. Shifts are offered based on program needs and staff availability.
Available shifts may include:
8:00 AM-4:00 PM 2:00 PM-10:00 PM Shorter fill-in shifts as available Staff may select shifts based on their availability; there are no mandated or forced shifts. Required Training Relief staff are required to participate in one monthly training, held virtually on the first Wednesday of each month. Training is an important part of maintaining active status and ensuring all relief staff are prepared to safely and effectively support youth. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record Successful background check (EEC) Experience working with adolescents or special populations preferred, but not required Ability to successfully complete required training Compensation $19.50-$20.50/hour, based on experience, education, and schedule +$1.00/hour for bilingual Spanish fluency Up to +$1.00/hour additional for medication administration, as applicable Holiday pay, as applicable Why Stevens?
