POSITION SUMMARY

The Residential Milieu Specialist at Safely Home, Inc. supports the well-being of youth in a 24-hour residential treatment facility. This role creates a safe, structured environment for children and adolescents facing emotional or behavioral challenges, often due to trauma. Specialists engage with residents, implement care plans, teach life skills, support therapeutic and recreational activities, and model positive behavior while ensuring safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Client Safety & Supervision Monitor and supervise residents to ensure safety, structure, and adherence to program expectations. Protect clients from physical or emotional harm, including self-harm or harm by others. Intervene in crises using trauma-informed, agency-approved de-escalation techniques (e.g., CPI). Maintain consistent daily routines, including wake-up, hygiene, meals, bedtime, and transitions. Therapeutic Support Implement behavior management strategies aligned with individualized treatment plans. Facilitate and participate in therapeutic, recreational, and social skill-building activities. Promote and reinforce pro-social behavior and values that support healthy development. Documentation & Communication Complete incident reports, behavioral observations, and shift documentation promptly and accurately. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (clinical, educational, and medical) regarding client needs and progress. Client Relationship & Development Serve as a positive role model demonstrating appropriate communication, coping, and problem-solving skills. Engage clients in personal care, academic tasks, household chores, and group activities. Encourage trust and rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries and cultural sensitivity. Teamwork & Dependability Arrive on time and prepared for assigned shifts. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and assist coworkers when needed. Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervision to support continuous improvement. Additional Duties Lead or assist with group projects and activities. Transport clients to appointments or pick up supplies, as needed. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Resident Milieu Supervisor or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate's degree or a related field is preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a residential or behavioral health setting preferred Experience with program coordination, client care, or trauma-informed environments preferred Knowledge of medication administration procedures and behavioral health care practices. Ability to manage responsibilities independently while working effectively in a team. Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with regulatory standards in education, healthcare, or residential care environments.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 21 years of age Must pass a BCI/FBI background check and physical exam Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Must maintain required Crisis Intervention Certification (eg, CPI)

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and kneel throughout the day. Ability to lift 25 pounds and perform CPI physical interventions as needed. Work is primarily conducted within a youth residential treatment facility, including client living areas, activity spaces, and administrative offices. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of equipment up to 25 pounds. Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids

Travel:
