Support Services Instructor

PROFESSIONALS, for a part-times and full-time positions in Sacramento and the greater area of Yuba Sutter, CA within the Social Services Industry.
PASSPORT TO LEARNING, INC.
is seeking individuals with backgrounds in Social Services with degrees relating to Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Teacher's Assistant, or Educator to work part-time with the option to work full-time and full-time with people who have intellectual disabilities. The social services work is conducted in the clients' home environment and in the community to establish positive routines and functional skill development for the enhancement of the clients' daily living skills. Typically, the social services instructor professional is assigned to provide training and guidance to clients in a mentor- style relationship for the attainment of personal goals. Must be available to meet with clients in their communities to provide skills training, attend social services meetings, and medical/mental health appointments several times a month. Reports to PTL's office located in the city of Sacramento remotely or in person when required. Must attend staff meetings, training, and supervision, and client QA meetings held by Sacramento program management. On-the-job training is provided. Instructors:
Bachelor's = $31.00 / Master's = $32.00 You work one-to-one with 'special need' parents in a mentor-style / instructor relationship to teaching parenting skills. The goal of PSS is to assist in providing a safe and stable living environment for our consumer and their family who suffer from mental health matters. Consumers may need support with topics such as, but not limited to healthy diets, IEPs with school districts, support during children's doctor's appointments, education on child's development or developmental needs (many times consumers children's also have a disability they need assistance understanding). There could be legal social services components, such as: custody hearings, child support, co- parenting issues, CPS cases (this may require you to be present at court mandated supervised visits).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
must have a Bachelor's Degree in health and human services, early childhood development, education, nursing, or a related field.
SKILLS:
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in the client's home setting or the community
  • Knowledge of intellectual disabilities, social services and mental health
  • Ability to use community resources and advocacy
  • Ability to do report writing to state agencies
  • Time-Management/Organization
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Reliable transportation is a must. Valid California Driver's License, Automotive Insurance, and CPR/ 1st Aid are required. A background clearance is required, including a 3-year Motor Vehicle Report.
