Essential Functions:
Direct Service- (80%)
- Provide information, support, and accommodations to students with disabilities.
- Implement programming and supportive services for students with disabilities based on best practices
- Facilitate communication and provide on-going consultation, strategic thinking, and building of partnerships related to accommodations and access for students with disabilities
- Promote student self-advocacy, independence, and development.
- Recommend, develop, and implement accommodations and procedures that safeguard the legal rights and responsibilities of students and the University.
- Develop and oversee support programming for faculty and student database use, and other areas of disability support
- Provide departmental support, including implementation of assistive technology use & exam accommodation coordination
- Meet with students registered with DR on a drop-in basis, as well as with a caseload of students, specifically those seeking housing and/or temporary accommodations
- Hire, train, direct, and supervise and provide on-going training for student workers, specifically Access Assistants. Outreach

- Provide training and create content for presentations to University units and to the community on relevant accommodation and disability issues
- Develop and engage in outreach with prospective students and their parents through campus events and meetings
- Provide consultation/technical assistance related to provision of accommodations as needed or requested by individuals and groups at the University so that they have the expertise to administer accommodations within their department and college Institutional Support (DR work groups and/or University committees)

- Attend and participate in unit and all-staff meetings
- Participate in work groups as recommended or assigned
- Participate in University committees, task forces and networks upon the recommendation and/or approval of the Director Professional Activity (training and professional development)

- Join and serve relevant professional organization(s)
- Provide guidance on best practices in assistive technology, testing accommodations, temporary disabilities, housing accommodations, etc.
- Attend Disability-related conferences and programs
- Network with disability resources professionals at the University of Minnesota and other institutions
- Participate in University organizations serving individuals with disabilities Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
- Experience working with people with disabilities and demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws regarding access for people with disabilities
- Demonstrated experience in, and an ongoing commitment to working effectively with and across diverse communities: including BIPOC, underrepresented groups and new immigrant populations; people with both visible and invisible disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; and first-generation students from various socioeconomic backgrounds
- Demonstrated excellent communication, organization and administration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the University of Minnesota
- Demonstrated knowledge of disability-related accommodation needs and resources
- Ability to anticipate and manage program needs and fluctuating service demands
- Is an effective spokesperson for their area/unit with others both inside and outside their area/unit
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement
- Demonstrates a substantial knowledge of issues regarding diversity, access, & inclusion
- Understands and supports teamwork in the workplace
- Demonstrated experience with assistive technology used for accommodations Pay and Benefits
