A Social or Human Services Assistant assists with identifying and arranging community services for clients. Works with social workers and other human services professionals. Helps with rehabilitation for people with disabilities or those in recovery, or coordinates home care services for the elderly; may also coordinate housing or job training assistance for immigrants, veterans, former inmates or families in crisis.
Resident Recovery Support Coordinator Job Description The Resident Recovery Support Coordinator provides essential client-support, recovery-support, and facility-support services to Providence Pregnancy Center and Casa de Maria Maternity Home. This role is vital to the smooth daily functioning of both ministries. Because this position involves direct work with Casa de Maria residents who are in recovery from substance use disorder, the Resident Recovery Support Coordinator must have experience working in the drug and alcohol field, recovery support, social services, or a related helping profession. Because this position involves peer-mentor responsibilities, the candidate must have lived experience with substance abuse disorder, must have at least 36 consecutive months in recovery, and must be actively working a strong program of recovery and have a system of natural supports. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible, and deeply committed to supporting women, children, and families with dignity and care. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. This is a part-time position of 30 hours per week. Cleaning and Miscellaneous Upkeep:
approximately 3 hours per week. This can include helping keep the pregnancy center clean by performing light cleaning duties such as emptying trash cans, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, organizing donations. Administrative Support and Client/Resident Support at Casa de
Maria:
remaining weekly hours, based on ministry needs and direction from the Executive Director. The Executive Director may adjust time allocation as needed based on organizational priorities, resident needs, events, donor activity, or other ministry responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Administrative Support The Resident Recovery Support Coordinator will provide administrative assistance to support daily operations, including: Preparing and sending donor thank-you notes, upon request.
Creating and maintaining an organized filing system of blank forms used by Providence Pregnancy Center and Casa de Maria.
Ensuring forms are current, organized, and readily available to staff and volunteers.
Coordinating local pick-ups and drop-offs, including print orders, baby bottles for churches, donations, and supplies.
Monitoring and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
Performing additional administrative tasks as assigned by the Executive Director. The administrative support tasks are to be completed when there is free time available. Client supportive services should always be prioritized. Client, Resident, and Recovery Support at Casa de Maria The Resident Recovery Support Coordinator will support residents and the daily functioning of Casa de Maria Maternity Home. This position requires direct, compassionate work with women who are in recovery from substance use disorder.
Responsibilities include:
Serving as a supportive peer mentor to residents by appropriately sharing personal experience, strength, and hope in ways that encourage recovery, accountability, stability, and personal growth. Model for the women on how to begin and or/continue a 12-step recovery program, how to choose a sponsor, how to join a "home group" and how to develop, build and utilize a support group. Supporting residents with dignity, professionalism, respect, compassion, and healthy boundaries. Helping residents work toward goals established by Healthy Moms Case Managers and other approved service providers. Maintain regular contact with these service providers to monitor their progress. Developing and implementing a life-skills program for residents, including weekly classes on topics such as cleaning, self-care techniques, healthy cooking, food storage, organization, budgeting, parenting preparation, and healthy routines. This can be accomplished through collaboration with local approved partners/agencies. Obtaining approval from the Executive Director before implementing any program, class, or resident activity. Providing transportation for mothers to daily meetings and some other appointments using a Providence Pregnancy Center vehicle, subject to approval and organizational policies. Creating and maintaining an availability schedule so residents may schedule transportation or support appointments accordingly. Being present in the home to provide a consistent Providence Pregnancy Center presence. Completing work from the Casa de Maria location when no direct Casa de Maria tasks are required. Maintaining confidentiality regarding all resident recovery, treatment, personal, medical, family, and case-management information. Communicating resident concerns, safety issues, relapse concerns, behavioral issues, or urgent needs to the Executive Director in a timely and appropriate manner. Cleaning and Miscellaneous Upkeep Approximately 3 hours per week The Resident Recovery Support Coordinator will assist with cleaning and upkeep of Providence Pregnancy Center and Casa de Maria, including: Assisting staff and volunteers with cleaning the Pregnancy Center. Cleaning after a mother moves out. Checking food in the maternity home to ensure expired items are removed. Maintaining inventory of pantry items, cleaning supplies, and toiletries in Casa de Maria. Notifying the Executive Director when supplies are low or when household needs arise. Assisting with light organizational tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Additional Assistance Based On Organizational Needs Assisting with fundraising events, including planning, mailings, and outreach, as needed. Contacting local businesses for event support, such as raffle items, sponsorships, program ads, or in-kind donations, as needed. Assisting the Executive Director with other fundraising-related tasks as requested. Confidentiality The Resident Recovery Support Coordinator must maintain strict confidentiality of all client, resident, donor, volunteer, staff, and organizational information. Confidential information may not be shared outside of authorized Providence Pregnancy Center business purposes. A strong understanding of confidentiality is required, especially because this role involves direct work with women in recovery, residents, families, donors, and sensitive organizational information. Breach of confidentiality may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or termination of employment. Qualifications The Residence Recovery Support Coordinator should possess the following qualifications: A sincere commitment to the mission of Providence Pregnancy Center and Casa de Maria Maternity Home. Experience working in the drug and alcohol field, recovery support, social services, case management, peer support, or a related helping profession. Certification or education in a related field is strongly preferred, such as Certified Recovery Specialist, Certified Peer Specialist, social work, human services, counseling, addiction studies, or a related discipline. Lived experience with addiction and recovery is required due to the peer-mentor nature of this role. The candidate must have maintained at least 36 consecutive months in recovery. The employee must be actively working a personal program of recovery and committed to maintaining personal recovery. Experience, comfort, and compassion in working directly with women in recovery from substance use disorder preferred. The ability to relate to residents with dignity, respect, accountability, and encouragement. The ability to share appropriate personal experience, strength, and hope in a way that supports and encourages women in recovery. Strong understanding of confidentiality and the ability to protect sensitive client, resident, donor, and organizational information. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and follow direction from the Executive Director. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, residents, donors, volunteers, and staff. Dependability, punctuality, flexibility, and willingness to assist where needed. Ability to provide transportation for residents using a Providence Pregnancy Center vehicle, subject to approval and organizational policies. Willingness to comply with all diocesan, parish, Safe Environment, Pennsylvania mandated reporter, and Providence Pregnancy Center requirements. Knowledge of and willingness to comply with all Pennsylvania mandated reporter requirements, including reporting suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with state law and Providence Pregnancy Center/Casa de Maria policies. Drug Screening Requirement Because this position involves direct work with women in recovery and residents of Casa de Maria Maternity Home and driving the company vehicle the employee must comply with drug-screening requirements. A drug screen is required upon acceptance of the position. Random drug screens may also be required during employment. Refusal to comply with required drug screening, failure to complete a required drug screen, or a failed drug screen may result in withdrawal of the employment offer or disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Additional Duties In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the Resident Recovery Support Coordinator shall assist the Executive Director with other requested tasks within reason. The employee understands that the Executive Director may adjust priorities based on the needs of Providence Pregnancy Center, Casa de Maria, residents, clients, donors, or organizational operations.
