Community Health & Violence Prevention Services Position Overview:

Work with individuals directly or secondarily affected by violence to provide emergency support services, case management, crisis intervention, support, and advocacy. Intervene and mediate conflicts, provide mentorship, and connect participants to services addressing individualized needs. Develop relationships with partner organizations and build networks for linkage. Provide referrals related to domestic violence, intimate partner shootings, homicides, and root causes of violence. Provide emotional and traumainformed support to victims, perpetrators, families, and community members. Must be a credible messenger with established relationships in Cloverleaf (77015) and Greater OST/South Union communities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Mentorship & Support:

Provide guidance and mentorship to highrisk individuals.

Case Management:

Provide emergency support to individuals and families affected by violence.

Crisis Response:

Provide immediate support after violent incidents; respond in community and hospital settings.

Victim Advocacy:

Provide advocacy through home visits, calls, justice advocacy, and referrals.

Documentation:

Accurately document all client contacts; assist Program Manager with data collection.

Referrals:

Facilitate referrals to partner organizations for domestic violence, intimate partner shootings, homicides, and related services.

Community Engagement:

Lead educational forums, support sessions, and community-based events.

Safety Support:

Collaborate with participants to identify safety concerns and develop long-term safety plans.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or GED, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

Experience Requirements:

At least six (6) months of experience working with highrisk individuals of diverse backgrounds. Must be considered a credible messenger/trusted resident in Cloverleaf (77015). No pending criminal cases.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of challenges faced by at-risk individuals, including street-involved youth and young adults. Ability to develop personalized plans addressing trauma and its effects. Proficient in documenting case notes and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Established credibility in specific communities within unincorporated Harris County, particularly Cloverleaf. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to cultivate professional relationships with service providers and partner organizations.

Preferences:

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Work Schedule:

Full-time. Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM-8:00 PM. Hours will vary and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment:

Primarily field-based, driving personal vehicle. Occasional office days. Requires flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work outdoors with varying weather conditions. Drug-free and safe workplace.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 lbs. Ability to sit, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Background Requirements:

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards. Due to high application volume, position may close earlier at department discretion.
