This role oversees school-age child care, preschool, camp, and other youth and family programs, with responsibility for program quality, staff leadership, licensing and compliance, enrollment, budgets, and family experience. The Director will also identify and develop new programs that respond to community needs, increase participation, strengthen family engagement, and support branch growth.Key responsibilities include:
Lead assigned youth and family programs and supervise program staff. Ensure compliance with Connecticut Office of Early Childhood requirements, YMCA standards, and applicable health, safety, and accreditation requirements. Develop and evaluate new youth and family programs based on community needs and opportunities for growth. Manage program budgets, enrollment and revenue goals, staffing, and expenses. Maintain high standards for program quality, supervision, family communication, and participant experience. Build relationships with families, schools, community organizations, and other partners. Lead program risk management, including youth protection, abuse prevention, mandated reporting, emergency preparedness, and staff training. Bachelor's degree preferred in early childhood education, education, child development, recreation, youth development, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. At least three years of progressively responsible experience in youth development, child care, camp, recreation, or related programming, including staff supervision and program management. Must meet Connecticut Office of Early Childhood requirements applicable to the programs overseen by the position. For this assignment, must meet or be able to progress toward applicable ECE Head Teacher qualification requirements within the established timeframe. Demonstrated ability to grow programs, lead staff, manage budgets, and build strong family and community relationships. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification within six months of hire and completion of required YMCA and OEC trainings and screenings. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on program needs.
