Job Description

Every day, we work alongside families experiencing homelessness by providing a home, hope, support and the resources needed to achieve lasting independence. As an Engagement Specialist, you will be a consistent and supportive presence for the families we serve. You will help create a safe, structured and welcoming environment while encouraging resident participation, reinforcing program expectations and connecting families with resources and services that support their success. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, working directly with people and being part of a hands-on team. What You Will Do
- Build positive, professional relationships with residents and encourage engagement in House of Refuge programs and services.
- Maintain a consistent presence throughout the property and help create a supportive environment.
- Support residents as they navigate challenges and connect them with resources such as case management, workforce development, the Donation Center, and children's programming.
- Reinforce program expectations with consistency, professionalism, and respect.
- Use conflict resolution and trauma-informed approaches when responding to support a safe and respectful environment.
- Conducts routine outreach by phone and in person to strengthen engagement with residents.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, maintain confidentiality and keep appropriate Family Services Staff informed of resident concerns, incidents, and other important information.
- Follow established safety protocols, policies and procedures; as well as demonstrate best national practices for transitional housing.
- Maintain professional boundaries while providing respectful and compassionate support.
- Participates in required meetings, program activities, and other tasks that support smooth daily operations
- Performs general upkeep of the Family Services building by organizing common spaces such as lobby, birthday closet, and career closet, and ensures resource materials are up to date.
- Collaborate with staff across the organization to provide consistent and coordinated support to residents.
- Support House of Refuge's mission and Philosophy of Care in daily interactions with residents, coworkers, volunteers, donors, and the public. What You BringRequired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one (1) year of experience in social services, navigating community resources or social service systems
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Must currently possess or be able to obtain a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card. Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field.

- Takes initiative and works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Is organized and able to manage time and priorities effectively.
- Is proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google and Gmail.
- Contributes to a culture of trust, mutual respect, teamwork, growth and continuous improvement.
- Adheres to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and supports compliance with the Arizona Landlord Tenant Act. Work Environment
- Works onsite throughout the House of Refuge property and between buildings.
- Regularly moves throughout the property and spends time outdoors.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Position involves sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, and handling various objects.
- Works up to 29 hours per week, including two Saturdays per month.
