Job Description

The City of Rio Vista is now accepting applications for the position of Community Services Officer in the Police Department. This is a full-time, benefited position, with a monthly salary range from $4,136 to $5,027, and represented by Office & Professional Employees International Union, Local 29 (OPEIU) . Community Services Officer ("CSO") is an entry-level position offering hands-on experience for someone interested in a non-sworn position in a law enforcement environment. CSOs play an essential role in enhancing public safety and delivering quality service to the community. CSO responsibilities vary from community outreach and social media communications to processing forensic evidence, traffic control, parking enforcement, code enforcement, and non-enforcement police patrol support. The work week is a mix of being in the office and being out and about in the community. View the complete job description here: Community Services Officer . CSOs typically work a 9/80 schedule during regular business hours; some overtime on evenings and/or weekends may be necessary for special events. Candidates are required to pass a comprehensive background check, including a Voice Stress Analysis (VSA) test and physical/medical/psychological examination. They must also be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., work in inclement weather, and work in potentially hazardous situations (e.g., directing traffic on SR-12). Apply by August 31, 2026.
