The Shelter Coordinator Position:
The Shelter Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the overall personal safety of clients, staff, and volunteers by ensuring that organizational policies and procedures are followed consistently. The shelter coordinator provides respectful trauma-informed support to clients and de-escalate situations that may arise between them and/or others on shelter grounds.Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist and support clients using trauma- informed practices to address emergent issues and day-to-day agency protocols.
Experience/Education:
High school diploma (or GED certificate) and a minimum of six months related experience and/or training, nonprofit preferred. Lived experience with homelessness, housing instability, or related challenges and/or certification as a Peer Support Specialist is preferred. Proficiency in the use of computers for word processing, data entry, email, and internet- based tools (e.g., webmail, Google Suite). Ability and availability to work flexible and non-traditional work hours Bilingual preferred CPR-First Aid certification (adult/child/infant)
