Job Summary We are seeking compassionate and energetic Peer Support Specialist to empower individuals navigating mental health, substance use, and social challenges. Duties Provide peer support through active listening, motivational interviewing, and empathetic communication to foster trust and engagement. Assist clients in crisis situations by implementing crisis management techniques and coordinating with emergency services when necessary. Support clients in identifying social services resources such as Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8 housing, child welfare programs, and workforce development initiatives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized case management plans that address behavioral health needs and social determinants of health. Conduct outreach and mentoring activities for vulnerable populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those experiencing addiction or mental health challenges. Document client interactions accurately through detailed writing skills while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations. Supervise or mentor new staff or volunteers to ensure quality peer support delivery and adherence to program standards. Requirements . Strong crisis intervention skills combined with knowledge of crisis management protocols. experience working with individuals facing behavioral health issues, addiction counseling, or social services environments Familiarity with behavioral health topics such as mental health disorders and substance use recovery Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities and adapt approaches accordingly. Certification in CPR and First Aid; additional certifications in CPR or crisis management are preferred. Experience working with seniors, children (including childcare), or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse client populations effectively. Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Section 8 housing programs, child welfare services, and workforce development resources is advantageous.
