Primary Purpose The PAL Specialist II is responsible for assisting the PAL Management/Supervisory Staff with general clerical/office duties to include special events and the development of PAL Sports programs. This position is responsible for the organization, implementation, and management of a specific PAL Sports Program. This position also requires the ability to load and unload a variety of office supplies and/or sports equipment, perform such duties as computerized data entry, processing, filing and maintaining a variety of specific program related documents. This position requires the ability to effectively and safely tow all PAL Trailers when needed.

Education and Qualification Requirements Minimum:

High School Diploma or Equivalency Valid Florida Driver's License Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook 2 years prior coaching experience and/or position held within a recreational sports association Prior athletic experience Duties Assist coaches, parents and juveniles with application forms both online and in person Act as liaison with community leaders Receive, route, and disperse telephone calls/messages Complete and submit season ending reports Plan and execute specific PAL Sports Program assigned Coordinate sport requirements Plan/Implement structured PAL youth summer programs Support PAL youth activities/events Document and submit youth participant attendance forms Coordinate online and site registrations Disseminate PAL literature/information Refer youth participants to other PAL programs Assist with PAL related grants Display knowledge of rules and regulations regarding sports Provide referrals to various social services agencies regarding juveniles Provide counseling for youth in the PAL program Load and unload equipment Maintain inventory of uniforms and equipment Ensure office is open and secure Participate in Agency sponsored youth programs Maintain CPR certification Operate audio/visual equipment Safely and effectively tow PAL trailers on all roadways. Assist in keeping the PAL website and social media current/relevant Perform concession stand duties Maintain PAL Sports Program data and records in accordance with appropriate retention regulations Job Controls and Complexities Report directly to supervisor Adhere to all laws and SJSO Policies and Regulations Maintain confidentiality/security of files and information obtained in the course of employment Process/compile/disseminate record/public record information as directed by approving authority in accordance with lawful requirements Provide assistance to citizens, visitors, employees and other public and private entities in an effort to meet their needs and build positive community relationships/resolve complaints/address conflicts Maintain continuity and operational efficiency by accurate and timely dissemination of information to Staff and co-workers Adhere to leave, overtime and attendance policies/procedures (i.e. arrive promptly, regular attendance at work, notification to supervisor regarding absence from work due to illness or untimely incidents, etc.) Contacts Youth General Public SJSO Employees Grade Classification Entry to intermediate level work Performs independently under general supervision Work requires application of general knowledge of business practices in various situations Deals with problems or situations that remain stable Physical Environment Work is in an office environment and in the field. Coordinates PAL activities by maintaining close personal contact with the public and PAL Families. Normal business hours apply; however, evening and weekend work is required, and hours are subject to vary, overtime is regularly necessary including nights, holidays, and weekends Contact with public and SJSO personnel Sit/Stand for long periods See at normal range or with accommodations Hear at normal level or with accommodations Speak understandably Manual dexterity Ambulate independently Frequently grasp/push/pull/bend/squat/lift/carry items up to 20 lbs. Occasionally reach above head/kneel/walk/climb/stoop/stand/lift items up to 50 lbs.
