We provide an array of mental/behavioral health services to help a diverse population of children, adolescents, adults, and their families. Key Functions:

The primary role of the Peer Support Specialist Group Facilitator is to serve as a role model to peers: exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; as well as serving as an advocate to their peers with mental/behavioral deficits.

Responsibilities:

Prepares and provides recovery-oriented, evidence-based psycho-educational groups; Is a role model of recovery, flexibility, and professionalism; Documents all contacts and complete individual daily progress notes; Works cohesively with co-workers, site physicians, adult outpatient clinicians, administrative staff, agency administration, personal care home providers & family members, etc.; Set up transportation for individuals attending groups Possesses basic computer skills & utilize electronic medical records daily; May require occasional weekend or adjusted hours due to program and community events; Additional duties assigned by the Program Lead, as needed. Complete documentation training to ensure understanding of services rendered. Participate in monthly mandatory supervision meetings. Complete Annual Agency Training (CPR, CPI, ShareNote, etc.).

Candidate Requirements:

• Certification as a peer specialist (CPS-MH) by the DBHDD through the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network
• Experience working with adults diagnosed with mental illness in the capacity of a CPS.
• Competency in teaching basic group skills, understanding how to engage individuals in treatment & development of self-advocacy.
• Minimum of High School diploma.
• Proficient computer skills to be able to use electronic medical records.
