Why Chicago Debates? Chicago Debates empowers students through debate. Through the AmeriCorp service position, you will gain hands-on experience in education and nonprofit leadership, and make a lasting impact in under-resourced communities while growing your own skills and career opportunities. The Roles This year we are offering three (3) full-time AmeriCorps positions. Two of the slots are for the Program Officer role (view job description here), and one slot is for the Volunteer Coordinator role (view job description here). Pay & Benefits As an AmeriCorps member you are paid a living allowance of $1,277 bi-weekly based on a 32-hour work week. Completing this term would fulfill one AmeriCorps "Year of Service." AmeriCorp members also receive a $7395 Seal Education Award to be used for a student loan, current or future higher education expenses upon the completion of 1700 service hours. A travel stipend is also provided. AmeriCorp members can opt into a health insurance plan. All members receive free access to the Member Assistance Program Premium Plus Package of concierge services.
QUALIFICATIONS A
formal debate background is preferred, as responsibilities include managing a caseload of schools, providing tournament support, and contributing to additional program needs. Experience working with diverse communities a plus. What is AmeriCorps?
