The Reentry Outreach Specialist is responsible for identifying, engaging, and connecting justice-involved individuals with Greater Future's reentry programs and supportive services. This position serves as an important link between Greater Future, individuals returning to the community, their families, correctional and community-based organizations, and other service providers. The Reentry Outreach Specialist builds trusting relationships with participants, provides information about available services, assists with initial enrollment and referrals, and helps individuals connect with the support they need for successful community reintegration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct community outreach to identify individuals who may benefit from Greater Future's reentry services. Engage individuals preparing to return to the community as well as those who have recently returned from incarceration. Explain Greater Future's programs, eligibility requirements, available resources, and enrollment process. Assist prospective participants with completing initial intake and enrollment documentation. Connect participants with Reentry Case Managers for comprehensive assessments and individualized service planning. Refer participants to Greater Future's workforce development, legal, educational, mentoring, and supportive services as appropriate. Build relationships with correctional facilities, probation and parole personnel, community organizations, workforce agencies, employers, faith-based organizations, shelters, treatment providers, and other referral partners. Participate in community events, resource fairs, reentry events, workshops, and recruitment activities. Conduct outreach through telephone calls, community visits, informational sessions, social media, and other approved methods. Maintain consistent follow-up with prospective participants who may need additional encouragement or assistance connecting with services. Help identify immediate barriers such as transportation, identification documents, housing, employment, clothing, food, and access to community resources and refer participants to appropriate services. Provide participants with encouragement and support while maintaining professional boundaries. Maintain accurate outreach records, referral information, participant contacts, enrollment information, and other required documentation. Track outreach activities and outcomes for program evaluation, grant reporting, and performance measurement. Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with Greater Future policies and applicable program requirements. Work collaboratively with Reentry Case Managers, Workforce Development Specialists, the Licensed Attorney, and other program staff to provide coordinated services. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, case conferences when appropriate, and community partnership meetings. Perform other program and outreach duties as assigned. Qualifications A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, sociology, communications, community development, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience in reentry services, community outreach, case management, violence prevention, workforce development, or human services may be considered. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer and documentation skills, knowledge of community resources, and the ability to build positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience working with justice-involved individuals, returning citizens, young adults, or underserved communities is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be approachable, dependable, patient, resourceful, nonjudgmental, and comfortable engaging individuals in community settings. Lived experience with successful reentry can be a valuable qualification when combined with professionalism, appropriate boundaries, and the ability to support others.
