We are currently hiring in our Lawrence office. If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding job in the field of human services this may be the job for you. Mentors work independently to provide direct, community-based services to children and youth, with the goal off facilitating the assigned youth's development of their own independent capacity to progress and succeed. Mentors must also work as an effective liaison between clients, DCF, and collaterals to ensure that the needs of the client are fulfilled and that the goals of the referring agency are met. Mentors must also understand, respond to, and embrace the cultural and linguistic diversity among COMPASS staff and clients. Mentors meet regularly with their Supervisors to ensure the effective implementation of COMPASS services. Please include a cover letter / personal statement with your application Bi-lingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply A car is required for this position as is a bachelors degree Mentors work includes: > Conduct intakes with assigned youth at the direction of the Director or Program Manager of Community Services. > Maintain a caseload and meet with all assigned youth on caseload as often as necessary, at least once a week, to conduct COMPASS services. > Develop and maintain an appropriate, supportive mentoring relationship with the assigned youth. > Provide individualized, direct services to assigned youth in accordance with the youth's identified needs and service goals, responding to the developmental, educational, vocational,social, emotional, and/or recreational needs of the assigned youth. > Facilitate the assigned youth's development of their own independent capacity to progress and succeed. > Develop interventions and solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of the assigned youth. > Accompany youth to appropriate appointments, activities, educational or vocational opportunities, and other community-based settings as necessary to support service goals. > Connect assigned youth to appropriate community resources. > Serve as an effective liaison between the assigned youth and collaterals. Working throughout Eastern Massachusetts all staff members are required to have a reliable car . COMPASS reimburses for travel expenses. Staff members need to be computer literate as all employees are provided a laptop and iPhone. Staff members must be willing to work flexible hours (37.5 hours/week), with some on-call responsibilities. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
