We are seeking a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NC CPSS) to provide recovery-oriented support to adults with mental health and/or substance use needs. The role focuses on helping members build recovery goals, develop wellness strategies, access community resources, and strengthen self-advocacy and natural supports.
Key Responsibilities:
Build respectful, recovery-oriented relationships with members Use lived recovery experience to support member goals and self-determination Help members access healthcare, behavioral health, housing, employment, benefits, and community resources Support transitions from hospitalization, crisis services, or other institutional settings Facilitate or co-facilitate approved peer recovery groups Collaborate with Qualified Professionals, care managers, providers, and other team members Recognize emergencies and follow appropriate safety and crisis procedures Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality Participate in supervision, training, and care coordination
Requirements:
Active NC Certified Peer Support Specialist (NC CPSS) certification required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 18 months of lived recovery experience with significant mental illness, substance use disorder, or both Valid driver's license and insurable driving record Ability to pass required background and employment screenings Strong communication, judgment, boundaries, and documentation skills Experience with IDD and/or SMI populations preferred Ability to work in community and residential settings
