This role plays a key part in ensuring a positive volunteer experience while helping to meet the organization's mission of relieving hunger, overcoming homelessness, and restoring hope. The Coordinator will assist in organizing volunteer schedules, supporting meal service teams, and maintaining strong communication with individuals and groups. Key Responsibilities Volunteer Coordination & Scheduling Coordinate and manage volunteer schedules for meal service, Choice Pantry, and special projects Communicate with volunteer groups regarding expectations, arrival times, and responsibilities Assist with last-minute scheduling adjustments and volunteer needs Review and evaluate volunteer applications Volunteer Engagement & Support Welcome and orient volunteers, ensuring a positive and mission-driven experience Provide on-site support during volunteer shifts, especially during meal service Build relationships with recurring volunteer groups and encourage retention Reinforce MTKO policies, procedures, and expectations Administrative & Data Management Maintain accurate volunteer records using Bloomerang or other systems Track volunteer hours and participation Assist with reporting and data collection for program evaluation Support communication efforts including emails, reminders, and follow-ups Outreach & Recruitment Assist in recruiting new volunteers, including individuals, schools, and community groups Represent MTKO at community events or outreach opportunities as needed Help promote volunteer opportunities through various channels Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred Experience working with volunteers, nonprofits, or community programs preferred Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment Comfortable working with diverse populations and demonstrating empathy and respect Basic computer skills (email, scheduling systems, data entry) Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods during meal service Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed Comfortable working in a kitchen and service environment Schedule Expectations Flexible part-time schedule, including some evenings and occasional weekends Core Competencies Commitment to the mission and values of Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills Dependability and accountability Problem-solving and adaptability Compensation Hourly, based on experience Expected hours: 15.0 - 20.0 per week
