Job Summary The Resource Advocate provides compassionate, trauma-informed support to guests of Open Door Mission. This position helps maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment while assisting individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, poverty, or crisis. The Resource Advocate builds trusting relationships, identifies immediate needs, connects guests with appropriate internal and community resources, documents services accurately, and supports each person in taking practical steps toward greater stability. Welcome guests with dignity, compassion, consistency, and respect while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Complete guest intake, orientation, eligibility screening, check-in, and other assigned program procedures accurately and confidentially. Assess immediate needs and help guests access shelter, meals, clothing, hygiene items, transportation support, medical care, behavioral health services, benefits, housing resources, recovery support, and other community services. Provide practical advocacy, encouragement, problem-solving assistance, and referrals while promoting guest choice, responsibility, and self-sufficiency. Respond calmly and appropriately to crises, conflicts, behavioral concerns, medical concerns, and safety issues; use de-escalation techniques and follow emergency protocols. Monitor assigned program areas and complete regular rounds to help ensure guest safety, cleanliness, security, and compliance with program expectations. Explain and consistently enforce program guidelines in a respectful and equitable manner; document incidents and notify leadership as required. Maintain timely, objective, and accurate guest records, shift notes, incident reports, referrals, service data, and required electronic documentation. Protect guest privacy and comply with confidentiality requirements, mandated reporting obligations, and all agency policies and procedures. Collaborate with coworkers, volunteers, service providers, law enforcement, emergency responders, hospitals, and community partners as appropriate. Support smooth shift transitions through clear communication, complete handoffs, and follow-up on outstanding guest or facility concerns. Assist with basic facility and program operations, including answering phones, receiving donations, distributing supplies, preparing spaces, light cleaning, and other duties needed to support safe and effective services. Participate in staff meetings, training, supervision, and professional development, including trauma-informed care, crisis response, boundaries, and safety practices. Demonstrate and support Open Door Mission's Christian mission and values through compassionate service, integrity, teamwork, and respect for every person. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet program and organizational needs.

Pay:

$19.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 32.0 per week
