Job Description
Job Overview:
The mission of Joseph House is to meet the needs of military veterans and their families affected by addiction within the Greater Cincinnati region; providing counseling, education and support to help clients recover, reintegrate and thrive in the community while maintaining a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. Our organization is seeking an individual, with either a Ohio Certified Peer Support Specialist certification or CDCA, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and or personal experience of mental health and addiction. The candidate will have their peer support certification, familiarity with mental health and addiction, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build rapport with diverse populations, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), ability to work effectively in a team environment, and show empathy, compassion, and have a non-judgmental approach toward clients. The individual will be responsible for providing direct support to individuals in need, collaborate with other professionals, and assist with promoting resiliency and recovery, self-determination, advocacy, well-being, and skills development.Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, healthcare providers and community organizations to coordinate care and support services for clients.
- Facilitate/co-facilitate small groups focused on skill-building, self-care, and wellness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress notes, in accordance with policies.
- Complete documentation in a timely manner using electronic health record system.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for individuals in recovery, sharing personal experiences, insights, and strategies for overcoming obstacles.
- Encourage clients to develop healthy relationships, engaged in positive activities, and pursue personal and professional goals.
- Assist with client transportation as needed.
- Promote client self-advocacy and assist individuals in accessing resources offered within the community.
- Uphold confidentiality requirements according to HIPAA.
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with all teammates, clients, visitors, etc.
- Act as a liaison between clients and staff (relay information to clinicians, client's rights officer, and other pertinent staff to aid in problem solving).
- Monitor appropriate participation and interactions between clients, setting appropriate boundaries and rules.
- Assist with recording medication into the EHR system, dispose of medications per policy guidelines, and monitor clients when taking medications.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Document and send out shift reports after every shift.
- Ensure the safety of the clients and the agency.
- Utilize de-escalation and crisis management as needed.
- Conduct random drug testing.
- Other duties as assigned.
