Job Summary The Volunteer Coordinator leads the day-to-day coordination and development of LBFE's volunteer program. This position is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, training, engaging, and retaining volunteers while ensuring volunteers are appropriately matched and prepared to support LBFE's elders, programs, events, and community initiatives. The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers and works collaboratively with the Executive Director, Elderly Services Coordinator, Operations Manager, and other staff to identify volunteer needs, maintain program coverage, and create a positive and meaningful volunteer experience. Essential Functions
- Lead volunteer recruitment, screening, onboarding, orientation, training, engagement, and retention efforts to maintain a dependable and diverse volunteer network.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, providing ongoing communication, guidance, support, and problem-solving.
- Coordinate Visiting Volunteer matches, volunteer placements, scheduling, and program coverage based on elder needs, volunteer availability, and organizational priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, businesses, faith-based organizations, community groups, and other partners to expand volunteer participation.
- Partner with the Elderly Services Coordinator and other staff to coordinate volunteer support for recurring programs, special events, seasonal outings, birthday activities, and holiday programs.
- Maintain accurate volunteer applications, background checks, service hours, assignments, contact information, and other records in LBFE's databases and tracking systems.
- Maintain and update volunteer orientation materials, training resources, the Volunteer Manual, and other program documents as needed.
- Develop volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts and identify opportunities to strengthen volunteer engagement and retention.
- Track volunteer participation, recruitment, service hours, and retention and provide reports or updates as requested.
- Attend staff meetings, volunteer-related meetings, training opportunities, and community events as appropriate.
- Participate in two of LBFE's three major holiday programs—Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter—as scheduled. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; related college coursework or degree preferred.
- Two years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, nonprofit services, program coordination, customer service, or a related field.
- Experience recruiting, onboarding, coordinating, or supporting volunteers or community members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, dependable transportation, and proof of current vehicle insurance.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program and organizational needs. Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, human services, communications, social services, business, or a related field.
- Experience working within a nonprofit, community-based, human services, or small-team environment.
- Experience using volunteer management, CRM, or communication platforms such as Galaxy Digital, Constant Contact, or Less Annoying CRM preferred.
- Experience working with older adults or programs serving aging populations.
- Experience developing volunteer recruitment, engagement, recognition, or retention strategies.
Work Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week, primarily during weekday business hours. Flexibility is required to support occasional evening, weekend, community, and holiday programs or events.
