Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Housing and Employment Specialist to support individuals experiencing homelessness, youth aging out of the system, and culturally diverse communities. This role involves providing comprehensive assistance with housing, employment, and life skills development through case management and mentoring. The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those facing housing instability, and possess strong interpersonal skills to foster trust and empowerment. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping clients achieve stability and independence. Duties Assist clients with housing placement and access to housing assistance programs tailored to their needs. Provide case management services, including assessment, goal setting, and ongoing support for individuals experiencing homelessness or transitioning out of foster care. Support youth aging out of the system by mentoring them, teaching basic life skills, and helping them develop independence. Collaborate with community organizations to connect clients with employment opportunities and resources. Work directly with culturally diverse communities to ensure services are accessible, respectful, and culturally sensitive. Advocate for clients' needs within various systems to facilitate successful outcomes in housing and employment. Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress notes, and service plans in compliance with organizational policies. Conduct outreach activities to engage potential clients and promote available programs. Qualifications Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in need of housing assistance programs. Proven ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities. Strong case management skills with the ability to develop individualized plans for clients. Experience supporting youth aging out of foster care or similar systems is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport and mentor clients effectively. Knowledge of local housing resources, employment services, and community programs is advantageous. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
