About the
Role:
Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment (HAVE) is looking for a passionate and dedicated Housing Specialist to join our mission-driven team in Gaithersburg, MD. In this role, you'll make a real difference by connecting individuals and families with the housing resources and support they need to thrive. Responsibilities:
Assess client housing needs and develop individualized housing plans and support strategies Connect clients with affordable housing resources, rental assistance programs, and community services Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords, housing authorities, and social service agencies Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, documentation, and client records Coordinate with vocational and employment teams to provide wraparound client support Conduct housing searches, accompany clients to viewings, and assist with lease negotiations Monitor client progress and provide ongoing follow-up to ensure housing stability
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or related field preferred Prior experience in housing case management, social services, or community advocacy Knowledge of local and federal housing programs, HUD guidelines, and rental assistance resources Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-centered approach Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
