Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Specialist to join our team in the Tri-Cities area. This is a remote-work position serving clients throughout the Lower Valley area from Prosser to Toppenish. The ideal candidate will assist individuals and families in obtaining and maintaining stable housing. The Housing Specialist will work closely with clients to develop housing plans, complete housing applications, establish long-term and short-term goals, address landlord-tenant concerns, and connect clients with available community resources. Duties Conduct assessments to identify each client's housing needs, barriers, strengths, and available resources. Work collaboratively with clients to create individualized housing plans. Develop clear, measurable long-term and short-term goals with clients and regularly document their progress. Review and adjust housing plans and goals when a client's needs, circumstances, or housing situation changes. Assist clients with applying for Section 8, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties, and other housing programs. Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing housing instability or emergencies. Help clients communicate with landlords, understand lease agreements, and address landlord-tenant concerns. Educate clients about tenant responsibilities, Fair Housing protections, and available housing resources. Enter accurate and complete case notes into the agency's electronic database daily. Maintain organized and current client records, housing plans, goals, applications, and supporting documentation. Collaborate with social workers, service providers, landlords, and other professionals when necessary. Use motivational interviewing techniques to encourage client participation and progress. Stay informed about local housing programs, community resources, and housing market conditions. Manage appointments, documentation deadlines, client follow-ups, and other assigned responsibilities effectively. Requirements Exceptional time-management, organization, and follow-through skills. Ability to develop meaningful and measurable long-term and short-term goals with clients. Ability to adapt housing plans and services when a client's needs or circumstances change. Experience using electronic databases to enter detailed and accurate case notes daily. Strong written communication and documentation skills. Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws, Fair Housing regulations, and crisis-management strategies. Familiarity with Section 8, LIHTC properties, and other housing-assistance programs. Experience in housing services, property management, case management, or social services is preferred. Strong advocacy, problem-solving, and negotiation skills. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet required deadlines. Ability to provide client-centered services to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
