Director of Maclellan Shelter for Families (MSF) Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Compensation:

$15.50-$17.50 Hourly/Non-Exempt Under direct supervision from the Manager of Maclellan Shelter for Families, the Shelter Coordinator will coordinate existing services for the families of MSF. The Shelter Coordinator will provide participant support in areas such as intakes, permanent housing planning, develop and implementation of new strategies in collaboration with other agencies, provide staff assistance to the manager; organize and participate in referrals to collaborative partners, and maintain client database, as required. - Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Provide administrative support for the Shelter Manager.
• Coordinate triage and intakes for MSF and complete intakes without supervision.
• Establish, maintain, and enhance cooperative relationships with local service providers and the homeless community.
• Conduct daily room checks with each of the families in shelter to ensure that families are keeping their space safe and healthy.
• Coordinate and facilitate with other agencies and volunteers to enhance programming for the shelter.
• Collaborate with the Shelter Manager to identify and implement best practices for housing and permanent solutions to homelessness.
• Coordinate crews to clean rooms when they're available.
• Assist with maintaining records to ensure all data is relevant and accurate for reporting purposes.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with families, co-workers, and community partners.
• Research and work directly with the Shelter Manager on funding associated with homeless programs and efforts.
• Develop and maintain MSF events calendar and collaborate with partnering agencies ensuring messages are tailored for the right channels and aligned with our broader organizational strategy.
• Assist with shelter on-call duties, one weekend a month.
• Follows the policies and regulations of the CHATT Foundation
• Be aware of basic principles and practices of service provision for families experiencing homelessness.
• Understand the effects of trauma, help MSF move towards a trauma-informed environment, and understand how trauma can impact homelessness and poverty.
• Utilize a strengths-based approach with families as they manage living in shelter, which involves supporting families with communal living, interpersonal conflict, and the stressors of homelessness.
• Must be able to maintain very strict confidentiality and boundaries with participants.
• Must be highly collaborative and able to work as a team to solve problems.
• Communicate clearly and concisely with clients and staff with a focus on verbal and written communication.
• Work cooperatively with community partners, including service providers and community groups.
• Develop creative and effective solutions to complex problems and issues.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for programs.
• Coordinate activities with volunteers and the Development Team.
• Prepare clear and concise research reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties
• 2- or 4-year degree from an accredited university preferred or comparable experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
• Ability to communicate professionally and accurately, with attention to detail and grammar, whether in writing, through email, on the telephone, or in person
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Demonstrated Commitment to and belief in the mission of the CHATT Foundation
