Job Description

Day Support Specialist III Hourly Rate Range:
$22.00 - $24.20 Encompass Community Supports , formerly known as Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS) is hiring a Day Support Specialist III. Encompass Community Supports is a Virginia State community services organization that improves the quality of life in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock Counties by providing comprehensive mental health, substance use, developmental disability, housing, children, and aging services. Our Day Support Specialist III trains and teaches a variety of living skills to adults with developmental disabilities; develops and maintains needed documentation. Work is performed under regular supervision.
SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees health and safety of clients; ensuring human rights of individuals, communicate client's issues and concerns. Keep Support Coordinators and family members informed accordingly. Manages the daily program activities to achieve program goals; facilitates group activities and community integration activities. Oversees, manages, and maintains prevocational and productive activities. Attends ISP meetings to develop plans; creates ISP plan according to Medicaid and licensing standards and regulations; implements and monitors service plans; adds addendums to plans as needed. Composes quarterlies, data collections, and schedules, tracking progress and/or regression towards goals and outcomes. Ensures service plans are tailored to meet the needs of each individual, that they are appropriately implemented by staff. Assists with crisis intervention and prevention strategies. Assists with physical needs of client; toileting, feeding and nutrition, lifting and transferring (occasionally bathing). Follows special protocols when needed; preparing food according to individualized needs. Teaches curriculum and runs activities/groups on schedule/ takes clients on outings in the community. Administers medications; Inputs medical information into electronic health records. Documents on clients' records on a daily basis. Records daily attendance. Maintains medical information & develop client's "Schedule" for Medicaid/ Fall Risk. Acts as a representative for the Agency when completing DD Waiver information/Develop yearly plan and record all. Performs special medical procedures such as (urinary catheterization), takes vital signs; and use Hoyer Lift Assists in job coaching/training. Upkeeps emergency van books with current information. Cleans program building. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of basic teaching techniques and vocational training techniques, including methods of reinforcement and prompting. General knowledge of community resources available for clients. General knowledge of behavior management and crisis intervention. Ability to work with intellectually disabled, elderly and other special population clients. Ability to practice sound hygiene and sanitation techniques. Ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. Valid VA driver's license
PREFERRED
Associate's degree in human services or a related field. Spanish speaking is a plus.
