Job Overview The Turning Point Center of Chittenden County is seeking dedicated professionals in long-term recovery to join its Recovery Peer Support Specialist team. This position is scheduled for 18 to 20 hours per week in 4-hour and 8-hour shifts. Candidates must be available to maintain a consistent weekly schedule throughout a 52-week calendar year and demonstrate flexibility to provide coverage for other team members as needed. Recovery Peer Support Specialists serve as an entry point to the broader recovery community and help foster a welcoming, supportive, and socially engaging environment for all guests of the Center. In this role, staff provide non-clinical, strengths-based support and connect individuals with resources and opportunities that support their unique paths to recovery. Duties Provide information regarding community organizations and available resources; maintain proficiency in local recovery and support resources. Welcome new guests to the Center, provide tours, and explain Center programs, services, and policies. Engage with guests visiting the Center and accurately document those interactions in the database. Complete and document Peer Support telephone calls. Respond to incoming calls that require peer support expertise beyond the scope of volunteer support. Work in partnership with the Recovery Services Manager to support policy enforcement, maintain appropriate guest conduct, foster positive guest relations, and assist with opening and closing procedures. Conduct intakes for all recovery coaching programs and maintain accurate documentation of intake information. Collaborate with Program Services to ensure all service inquiries are addressed promptly and carried through to completion. Support volunteers and provide coverage where needed, including maintaining the cleanliness of the Center and screening guests at the door. Qualifications Preference will be given to individuals in long-term recovery from substance use disorder, with a minimum of one year of continuous sobriety. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Demonstrated compassion and a strong commitment to supporting others. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Experience with policy enforcement and guest relations in a community center environment.
