A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

The part-time, 24-hour-per-week, non-exempt Associate Therapist position is responsible for promoting the wellness of the mind, body, and spirit of CUI students, primarily through counseling services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily: Provides direct counseling service hours to Concordia University Irvine students, using individual and group modalities. Responds to mental health crises. Makes appropriate counseling referrals to on- and off-campus resources. Promotes counseling and wellness services to the campus community. Completes appropriate tracking and documentation of counseling work. Attends Wellness Center staff meetings & other department and campus meetings, as requested. Provides Student Leadership training, athletic team wellness training, etc. Provides case management and counseling services to students referred through Helping Hands Provides case management and counseling services to mandated students through Student Conduct and Athletics Communicates with off-campus providers to coordinate treatment for clients, as needed Other duties, as assigned
Pay Range:
$30 per hour
