SUMMARY SPIRITT

Family Services is seeking a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to provide compassionate, trauma-informed outpatient Substance Use Disorder treatment services through the Los Angeles County Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System. This role supports individuals and families at designated SPIRITT Family Centers while upholding our mission to promote wellness, healing, resilience, and thriving communities.

Responsibilities:

Conduct ASAM and related assessments and provide care coordination under the DMC program. Provide individual and group counseling sessions within scope of practice. Maintain an assigned caseload and facilitate weekly group treatment services across cohorts. Complete assessments, treatment plans, SOAP progress notes, CAL-OMS entries, and other required documentation within established timelines. Participate in weekly clinical supervision with an LPHA and consult regularly on client care. Submit billable units accurately and on time. Support drug testing procedures, including observed urine sample collection and laboratory submission processes. Provide education and referrals related to medication-assisted treatment. Maintain working knowledge of Los Angeles County treatment provider requirements, SAGE, and PCNX electronic health records. Build positive relationships with external agencies, community groups, and internal SPIRITT programs. Maintain accurate calendars, schedules, timekeeping records, reports, letters, and client files. Travel regularly between agency sites as needed. Requirements Registered or Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor in accordance with Department of Health Care Services and Substance Abuse Prevention and Control guidelines. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to substance use and mental health treatment. Ability to use evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including accurate and timely documentation. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and electronic health record systems. Current valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and ability to travel between sites. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Availability to work a variety of day, evening, and weekend hours.
