A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Part-Time Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team working for The Public Defender's 19th Circuit Journey Forward Program . This position provides the opportunity to work with both male and female inmate populations, delivering essential substance use treatment services in a structured setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable facilitating groups, conducting individual counseling sessions, completing timely and accurate clinical documentationResponsibilities:
- Facilitate substance abuse group sessions
- Provide individual counseling to clients
- Complete screenings and assessments
- Complete clinical documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Support clients in developing coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and recovery goals
