A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Role:
JEM Treatment, Inc is looking for a dedicated Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to join our team in Waukegan, IL. to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.
Responsibilities:
Perform initial evaluations and assessments Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, conduct continued stay reviews, aftercare planning and discharges in accordance with patient needs Responsible to produce and maintain accurate and thorough treatment records in patient's chart in compliance with federal and state regulations Conducts individual and group therapy Provide education on HIV, Hepatitis and other health issues Work with outside agencies to coordinate patient care to both patients being admitted and patients leaving the program Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner
Requirements:
Active CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) certification in the state of Illinois Minimum eighteen (18) months as a licensed CADC Previous experience in a methadone clinic is highly desirable Knowledge of federal and state guidelines and ASAM criteria Strong clinical documentation skills Treat all patients with respect and dignity and protect their rights and confidentiality Strong communication and organizational skills The ability to work effectively within a team Punctuality is a must A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required Must pass a background check and drug screen as required by law

Work Hours:
Monday -Friday 5:15am to 1:15pm Saturday 5:45am to 10:45pm Rotating Saturdays are required
